A/N: Just a little tidbit (don't you just love that word?) of a story that never was. I was just thinking about National Treasure 3 and whether Riley's going to have a love interest and if he does, what she might be like, and so on, and this moment just popped into my mind. I haven't the foggiest (sweet phrase!) why this girl gets pulled into the adventuuuuuuuure (leioplurodons!) or anything. I do know everything else about her, though, but it wasn't really necessary for the sto-for the tidbit.

Basically, they're in Starbucks, and it's time for Riley to do his thing, but his laptop is out of battery. That's where it starts. Oh, and it's in Ben's POV.

Oh, and know that Abigail is supposed to be there. She doesn't say anything, but she is present.

Disclaimer: If I owned National Treasure, it would get more promotion, making it like unto the next Indiana Jones-while preserving the integrity of the franchise, of course.

Oh...and I don't own Starbucks, either. Or Charlie the Unicorn.

Riley swore. "Out of battery," he said. "Reyanne, you've got a laptop, right?"

She nodded, pulling what looked like a waffle iron from her bag and sliding it across the table toward Riley. "I used that during my brief stint as a college student," she mentioned.

The rest of us stared at it.

"That's it?" I asked.

"Ew," Riley muttered, opening it. Reyanne raised an eyebrow, but Riley didn't seem to notice, so she asked pointedly, "What?"

"This is so out-of-date," he responded, still sounding as though he were talking less to Reyanne and more to himself.

"Oh, well, sorry. What would you suggest, then?" Reyanne asked sarcastically.

He didn't stop typing as he glanced up at her. "For you?"

Reyanne raised her eyebrows.

"Well, you'd definitely want something with a lot of memory..." Riley looked back at the screen and rattled off an explanation of what computer would be best for her and why. Most of it was tech-talk, and he was talking relatively quickly, so all I caught was "Apple," "User-friendly," and "You'd want a great Word program." What I did know was that he didn't have to stop and think about any of what he was saying-it just came out naturally, almost as though he'd put thought into it before.

When I was sure Riley was finished (and it was hard to tell-I wasn't following what he was saying, so I had no idea if he was done talking or if he was just taking a pause for whatever reason,) I looked over at Reyanne.

She blinked.

"I need caffeine," she said exasperatedly, getting up.

Riley looked a bit put out.

Reyanne didn't realize it, but the computer recommendation had been Riley's way of telling her that he thought she was beautiful.

A/N: Reyanne's laptop:

Minus spaces.

Though probably with a different design, methinks. Picture it black, because if it had a design, Ben would have commented on it, and he didn't, and I'm too lazy to go back and change it.

Also, it was initially in Reyanne's POV, but Reyanne didn't know Riley well enough to know what he was really saying (I don't even think Riley realized what he was saying, if that makes sense) so I needed someone who knew Riley really well, someone who knew how to read him. Hence, Ben's POV.

Review. Peace!
