One year ago, he would have given anything just to sleep through the whole Christmas season.
His well-being was strained to the point that he had snapped at Albus. He delicately balanced his roles as a double agent, a soon-to-be-murderer, a professor, a Potions Master, a whipping boy, an object of hatred, and…a human being.
He almost pitied himself right then, but mentally kicked himself and saw to his responsibilities.
Now, a rare grin broke out on his face.
The Order of Merlin, the 'pardon', the adulation—all of them paled in comparison to the person who stood across him.
