He had taken to late nights in the tavern, whenever
she left. Sometimes while she slept. The others brushed it off as
trying to forget his fate, but he knew it was her. He was losing his
mind, he knew, but she was all he could think about. Her hair, her
smile, her face, her lips... Miroku took another swig from his drink.
About a week ago, they were fighting Naraku, again. But this time he attacked Kagome, and sent everything after her. One tentacle almost got her, but Miroku jumped in the way at the last second. He was out for three whole days, watching death come for him, saying just let go of everything. He had been so afraid of just giving in, and forgetting it all. He woke up on the fourth night to her cries. She told him not to go in a soft whisper, and he replied he wouldn't leave her. He took it for getting caught up in the moment, but she kissed him, desperately. She was left after that. He couldn't stop thinking about her. She was in his thoughts, his dreams. One night he found himself at the well waiting for her to come back. Miroku ordered another drink. The bartender however cut him off, said his tab was already 5512.24 yen.
So he left to sleep by the well. It was becoming habit for him. He knew of a simple cure for being drunk, but he knew he couldn't see her without crushing her to him and whispering "I love you" in her ear.
That night he dreamt of Kagome.
