Author Note: This is the first story that I've ever submitted... so please don't be too mean to me. :) I'm going to make this a collection of drabbles, although...I probably won't update it very often. Anyway, this one has been sitting on my computer for months, so it's not my best work. I hope you like it anyway.
Warning: Spoilers for manga chapter 307.
Pairings: Hints of SasuSaku.

How many days has it been since he's last seen that face? She's different now, he can tell. Stronger in more ways then her one, her face set with determination.

"Ah, its Sakura..."

She's surprised she found him already, yes, but that doesn't dull her will to bring him home, back to Konoha, and to her.

He knows this and underneath his cool, emotionless exterior, he wants to go home too. But he can't, not now; he can't abandon his ambition, it's just not an option.

He can't say it didn't surprise him that she didn't bust into tears when she lays eyes on him for the first time in the two and a half years they've spent apart. Although he admires her newly acquired strength, he can't help but miss the girl that cried and begged for him to stay. The girl that told him she loved him. He thinks that it can't be true and he scoffs inwardly at the part of him that hopes it was, that it still is.

Then Naruto shows up. He doesn't need this. Bonds should be broken if he ever wishes to kill his brother.

"Why didn't you kill me back then?!! Is that what you call severing bonds?!! Sasuke?!!"

He didn't kill him because he didn't wish to follow the same path as his brother; he doesn't want to sink that low. But those kinds of thoughts wouldn't get him anywhere. They won't make him strong will they? And so, he lies. To them and himself.

"I chose to spare your life at nothing more than a whim of mine...now your going to end up losing you life; all at a whim of mine."
