One day, Mr Johnson was talking with one of his friends on the phone. He was on his way to a party his friends were having, and he decided to stop and have something to eat first.
"Listen, I'll be a bit later to the party." he said. He listens to his friend's response before saying.
"I'm at Charlie's restaurant just now, but I'll see you later. Bye."
He hung up and put the phone away before he called over the waiter, who was none other than Grover.
"Hello!" Grover said politely. "Welcome to Charlie's Restaurant. What can I get you?"
Mr Johnson pauses a moment before he decides to inquire about their special.
"What special do you have today?"
"Well, Mr Johnson, we have a round doughnut with a free cup of soda today." Grover replies.
"I shall have that then." Mr Johnson decides. "But do please be quick- I haven't got all day!"
...
When Grover returned, the perfectly round doughnut was there on a plate, and Mr Johnson feels his mouth water. But he soon notices that the soda is not there.
"Where is the soda?" He asks politely, assuming there was some mistake.
"Sorry Mr Johnson, but I forgot to mention that we are giving out healthy sodas to healthy customers." Grover explained apologetically.
"Very well- may I please order a grape flavoured soda?"
"Yes certainly, Mr Johnson." And Grover hurried away.
...
But when Grover returned with the soda, for some reason, the doughnut was missing!
"And where is the doughnut?" Mr Johnson inquired this time, feeling a little impatient.
"Terribly sorry, Mr Johnson, but the doughnut is a glazed one." Grover informed.
"So may I please order it?" Mr Johnson asked him.
"Yes of course- I shall be right back, Mr Johnson, sir."
...
But when Grover came back for the third time, he was empty handed-save for a single bare china plate!
"Grover, where is the special?" Mr Johnson asked, fighting to keep calm after having two failed orders already.
"I am very sorry Mr Johnson, but it seems like one of our inexperienced cooks decided to eat the doughnut, and then stole the soda whilst I was trying to locate where it went."
The clock on the restaurant wall chimed, announcing to the customers that it was now two o'clock in the afternoon.
"Well it's my turn to have the special Mr Johnson!" Grover said excitedly. "How about you come back for dinner?"
Mr Johnson groans, and grabs his coat before getting up off his chair.
As Grover hurried to put the empty plate away to the kitchen, he accidently dropped it, causing it to smash.
Poor Mr Johnson fainted.
