Author's Note One: This is my second poem for HP. And being thus, it makes me wonder what it is about Harry Potter that makes me post poems rather than stories. Usually I write the latter, not the former.

Disclaimer: Rest assured it was not I who wrote the words that killed Fred Weasley!

Author's Note Two: Please comment at the end; I would love to know your thoughts on this. Poetry is a complicated thing to write, so words of criticism are cherished! Thanks so much for reading, I hope you enjoy it!

"Broken Pair"

For Fred

There had always been two of them, together, a pair.

Where one would be, so then would the other be there.

Following them always were pranks full of cheers.

It was their job to bring laughter to all the dark years.

And laughter they brought, until one fateful night,

Where had happened already so much terror and fright,

Came such a loss, a devastating blow—

One of the two went where the other could not go.

The one left behind looked upon his twin's still laughing face;

But gone were his own smiles, tears in their place.

He choked past the sobs his last good-byes,

As heavy and hot fell the rain from his eyes.

Just look at what this battle had done:

Lost was the laughter; gone was the fun--

The two together had become only one.
