I realized that I have never tried my own "The Piper" and decided I would. I know the rhymes aren't very good, this is the first version. Likely I will rewrite a better one soon. Please read and REVIEW! It will make my day.

The Piper

An eerie song floats o'er the trees,

A wild song that begs and pleas.

A crowd of people gather close

To see, watch, and heed the host.

Children, too, look up to a mist-filled sky,

To the Piper, playing by.

Suddenly children grow to men

Ever ready to answer when

The Piper's flute beckons on

To fight for today's tomorrow's dawn.

At home, women watch as futures deepen

While the path of danger steepens;

Men dying on a red-stained field,

After their last stand, whence they wield

A proud look of honor answered when

They were the Piper's, even then.
