For some reason unknown to himself, one morning Kakashi took a different route when returning from the Memorial Stone. As he walked along the little-worn path, out of the corner of his eye he detected a glimmer of light. Vaugely wondering if there was something hidden over there, Kakashi cautiously made his way over to where he had seen the glimmer.
It was a bloostained kunai.
Bending down for closer inspection, it became apparent to Kakashi that the weapon had remained hidden there for several years, perhaps even since the time the Kyuubi attacked Konoha. The sharingan twinged in remembered pain. Yes, he remembered all too well what had occurred that day.
Standing back up, Kakashi walked back to the path and continued on his way.
From then on he always chose that path.
