"Will, have you finished packing everything from the bathroom yet?"
"Almost, but could you come in here for a sec?"
For Heaven's Sake, what could he need me in there for, we're running late as it is.
"Alright,.. coming"
I open the door to the bathroom and hands cover my eyes immediately,
The officer in me is itching to do some damage to get myself out of this situation,
"Will!"
"Shhh, relax"
"I might be able to relax a little better if I could, you know ... see"
"That might be true"
His lips find mine immediately, hands still cover my eyes, but the familiarity of the situation allows me to wrap my arms around him and melt into the embrace.
"Will - Will, we really should be going"
"Mmm, I love you Brenda"
The sound of his words flow through my body, burning desire through my veins.
"Maybe we have just a few more minutes"
"Yeah that's what I was thinking to"
His charming smile squirms into place as he carries me towards the bedroom, it'll really have to be only a few minutes though,
....
"Okay, now we are really running late"
"It wasn't just me involved, don't try to pass the blame now woman"
As much as I hate the slang of a man calling me woman, when Will says it it just feels like love.
"Let's get to packin' up all the bathroom stuff that you were supposed to do quite some time ago mister,"
"No, no, you just get yourself all dolled up and I'll take care of it"
"Okay okay, I'll get the bags to the car"
"Oh sweetheart, didn't I tell you?"
"Tell me, what?"
"I hired a car service to come and get you,"
"Why? I thought we were drivin' back together,"
"Honey, my son has a baseball game this morning and I promised I'd be back for it"
"Right, right"
"I mean it would look a little suspicious if I was seen driving you home this early in the morning on a sunday"
"Yeah, I get it"
Sometimes it's hard to remember that he isn't mine, that the ring on his finger that he wears in front of everyone else has nothing to do with me. His love is expressed on multiple levels, all private of course, which makes my head fill with ideas when I allow my mind to wander.
"Brenda, I swear next time we'll drive back together. Maybe we should go somewhere farther away next time, and we could fly, anyone for the mile high club"
Moments ago I would have giggled at such an idea, but the image of his son, daughter, and wife are clouding me. His wink seems ceremonious, an experienced charmer fulfilling his duties. Oh Brenda, don't be so paranoid! He loves you, why wouldn't he leave his wife for you?
"Well maybe next time we go away it'll be post divorce and we can come back to the same house or somethin'
Honk!
"That's your car baby"
"That wasn't a yes"
"You really have to get going Brenda, and so do I. Leave first so that no one will see us walking out together"
"Bye"
He leans in to kiss me and I feel dirty, turn my head to the side and his lips burn my skin with his deception. I want to tear away my skin and run to a new life, one where the man who holds my heart isn't holding someone else's family together.
I walk away shamefully, get in the shiny black sedan and ride away with the feeling that I am in need of a life change.
