It was an ordinary Wednesday evening, and the boys were sitting on their couch playing video games before dinner when Drake brought up the new kid at school.

"You know, Josh, I think that new kid, Kelly, likes me," Drake half smiled.

Thinking Drake was just seeking an ego stroke, Josh tiredly responded, "Of course he does Drake, he's into guys and … and you're Drake."

"I like him."

"Huh," Josh replied with a dumbfounded look, but keeping his eyes on the video game.

"Not like that dumbshit … I just think he's cool … it takes big balls to be out like that at school," Drake explained.

"I guess so," Josh said halfheartedly, still concentrating on the video game.

"What, you got a problem with him," Drake asked.

"No, to each his own, I say," Josh answered, eyes on the TV screen.

"Sure … Kelly's just a kid at school … but what if somebody in our family was gay … what would you think about that," Drake quizzed.

"Same thing."

"What about a close friend?"

"Same thing."

"Someone you were really close to," Drake persisted.

"Same thing," Josh repeated.

"What if I was gay, what would you say about that?"

Josh finally looked away from the TV and chuckled. "I'd say you should give up music and go into acting ... because if you're gay, then you should get an Oscar for best performance of heterosexuality by a homosexual."

Drake didn't laugh at Josh's joke, and Josh found it odd that Drake didn't even smile.

"No, I'm serious, Josh … I want to know ... I want to know what you'd say ... if I was gay," Drake said as his voice began to tremble.

Josh then paused the video game, laid down his controller and turned to Drake. "Seriously," Josh asked.

"Seriously," Drake repeated quietly, looking straight into Josh's eyes.

After an uncomfortable silence, Josh finally responded, "Then ... uh ... I guess, I would 'say' this," as he leaned in and kissed Drake on the lips.

As soon as Josh broke away from Drake's mouth, he anxiously awaited his brother's reaction. Josh did not have to wait long.

"Damn, that's just what I was hoping you'd 'say,' " the redhead almost squealed, bringing a big, goofy smile to Josh's face.

As Drake was leaning in to kiss Josh, Audrey called, "Boys, dinner."

"Ohhh," both boys whined as they got up from the couch to go downstairs for dinner.
