This story takes place after Bill rushes to the drugstore to get Eddie's inhaler.

Bill and Eddie

"Hang on Eddie, I'm coming." I pedaled my bike Silver as fast as I could to the Barrens. My heart was pounding as I pedaled more from fear than exhaustion. I was scared shitless, if I didn't get there fast enough then Eddie, MY Eddie, was going to die. I steered Silver through a thick throng of bushes and I burst out in the Barrens next to the stream where Eddie and Ben was waiting for me. "Bill," Eddie gasped as I knelt down next to him. "I'm here baby, I got your inhaler," I said as I pulled the package with Eddie's inhaler out of my back pocket. "Here," I said handing it to him. He pulled out the inhaler, took two puffs and lay back down onto the grass. "Good thing you got here when you did Bill," Ben said, "he was starting to go unconscious. I was getting ready to carry him to the hospital." "Yeah, Ben, I'm glad I got here in time too." "Bill," Eddie groaned. I lay down on the grass next to Eddie. "Eddie, save your breath. I don't want you to pass out." I put my arms around him and pulled him close to me. I felt his scrawny arms, still trembling, wrap around my neck. I gave him a quick kiss on the lips and then I looked up at Ben. "Don't have to say anything Bill, I get what you mean. See ya later guys." Ben turned around and bounded up the hill leading out of the Barrens leaving me and Eddie alone at last. I watched Ben leave and then I turned back to Eddie. I stroked the side of his face and he closed his eyes and shuddered at my touch. He started rubbing his face against the palm of my hand like how a kitten rubs the top of his head against his owner's leg. I leaned in slowly and kissed him again only this time I held the kiss longer than last time. "I love you Bill," Eddie whispered softly to me, "I love you so much." I learned forward and whispered in his ear, "I love you too, Eddie Spaghetti." I looked at him expecting him to be infuriated that I called him by his nickname that he despised but I was met with one of the biggest smiles I have ever seen. "I love it when you call me Eddie Spaghetti, Bill," Eddie said to me giggling and I couldn't help but laugh along with him. He leaned forward and gave me a kiss which I gladly returned. "I'm tired," he said. "You want to go to sleep," I asked him. "Will you stay with me," he replied. "Yes," I said. He nestled himself in my arms and closed his eyes, I kissed him softly on the forehead and then I joined him. The sky was a beautiful deep blue and the sun, hidden by the tops of trees, kept watch over me and the boy that I loved.
