Drabble Club: Maybe one day it would be different. (sentence)
Cho grips the railing tightly, staring out at the wide expanse of blue. The waves crash against the dock, spraying water in a gentle shower across the old wood. The chipped paint of the dock is peeling off in lonely curls.
"Why did you leave me?" she asks, leaning forward. Her gaze is fixed on the fish wandering around aimlessly. She is that fish.
"Why?" She wishes she could be swallowed into the blue sea. It seems like a dream out of reach, to never be lonely again. To always belong.
He had left her to wander aimlessly. To flounder around.
A single tear slips down her cheek. She brushes it away quickly.
"I wish I could leave, too."
Maybe one day it would be different.
Maybe one day she wouldn't wish to jump.
Or maybe she's meant to stay lonely.
