Pancake Day with Lily and Snape

"Do we have to?" Whined a small black haired boy with his fringe in front of his face.
"Yes. Now go start mixing!" replied a bossy red head as she passed him the bowl with some eggs.

The young wizard heaved a sigh at the strange muggle tradition while secretly enjoying that Lily made him do this every year. The first time he'd tried it he was astounded that Muggles could come up with something so beautiful. And every year without fail lily would drag him into the kitchen of her small non magical house and they would mess around in the kitchen trying to make the world's best pancakes.

"This would be much easier with magic" Snape says trying to pull his wand from his pocket.
Lily laughed and snatched the wand away, "No magic outside Hogwarts. Tut tut tut! You know the rules!"

Snape groaned playing along. "Well in sure they won't mind a little bit of magic."

"Oh and I'm sure that will go down so well with the Ministry of magic! Oh I know I'm not supposed to do magic but I was trying to make pancakes you see..."

"I don't speak like that!" He said playfully sticking out his tongue. "A high pitched whiny voice; Sounds like potter to me!"

"Look it's ready." Lily said ignoring the comment on her fellow Gryffindor even if she did secretly agree.

"Right, errr, how do we put the fire on?" Severus asked looking in bewilderment at the stove.

Letting out a quiet giggle, lily leaned over and flicked it on using the button to the side. It illuminated immediately. "Here." She said taking the bowl from her friend. He watched as she put a small amount of mixture onto a serving spoon and with an immense look of concentration poured the mixture onto the pan with a small sizzle. She looked back to see Severus watching her.

"What?" she asked her eyes big and round like a doe, so full of innocent. A sight Snape wished he could see in more girls. Unfortunately with the people he mingled with it was a sight that was never seen.

"Nothing." he mumbled looking down.

She walked over to him and said, "Whatever it is you can tell me." His head shot up to meet her eyes and he wished he had the guts to lean forward just a few inches and meet her lips but instead he smiled while looking behind her. "The pancake is almost ready. We need to flip it."

Lily looked behind her with a disappointed look and said, "oh of course!" while quickly turning away. Her hair flipped into his face and he smiled as he took in her sent mixed with the smell of pancakes. This is a day he will remember forever. Always 3
