Inside the building was far more run-down than the outside. Holes in the wooden walls were plastered crudely and old newspapers were everywhere. The ceiling fan sputtered with a horrible noise but still functioned well enough that no one would do anything about it and the entire second floor of the building was inaccessible due to the stairs having caved in.
Three boys and two girls, all around the age of seventeen, sat in various places. Two of the boys sat at the dining table playing checkers. One of the boys was sleeping on the couch, cuddled next to one of the girls and the last of the bunch was busy studying a newspaper.
One of the boys at the table was dressed in a blue martial-arts gi with black sandals, sandy blonde hair and a yellow headband that fluttered in the breeze. This was Karate Kid Michalis.
Opposite to him was a boy with a high-end camera around his neck, a pair of blue-tinted sunglasses on his bright red hair and dressed in baggy jeans and a red Hawaiian shirt. He was known as Cameraman Taven.
The girl with the newspaper had a green headband over her long, brown hair, an orange, sleeveless shirt with a button that said "Hoenn and Proud" and camo shorts with a black carrying belt around her waist. She was known as Pokémon Ranger Emerald.
Finally, the couple that were resting together were the Leader-in-Training Kiryu and Ace Trainer Reena. Also known as the "Young Couple Kiryu and Reena". Kiryu wore a blue denim vest with a black shirt, camo jeans, an orange cap and matching duffel-bag at his feet and a silver necklace with an amethyst pendant. Reena had a bright red combat outfit in a traditional style with black slip-on shoes, a gold necklace with a bright pearl in the center and pitch-black hair done in a ponytail.
After several minutes of silence, Emerald's face lit up.
"Hey guys! I know how we can make some money!"
Michalis turned in his seat to look at her. In the meantime, Taven quickly swapped two of the pieces on the checkerboard. Kiryu woke up in surprise though not enough to wake up Reena.
"Woah, what? What's going on?" Kiryu sputtered in his semi-consciousness.
Taven lunged up after his cheating move, "Money? Did you say money?! I heard money!"
Michalis stopped him, "Woah, calm down friend. There is more to life than… Hey! You cheated, you bastard!"
Michalis lunges at Taven as Reena yawns and starts to get up, "Why's everyone shouting?"
Kiryu nudges her to get her a little more awake, "Our gal Emerald seems to have come up with a solution to our money problem."
Michalis speaks up as he pins Taven to the ground, "You mean, aside from finding a place that's not in the worst location possible for an odd-jobs group like us?"
Emerald smirks and looks around, "Who wants to bag a lucario?"
