Animal Culture: The Monkeys
Strongmen of the galaxy,
Live to respect tradition.
Always living in the moment,
Seeing things with full-color vision.
Honoring our great big Apes,
As the personhood of our kind.
We see in them the old wisdom,
Needed to govern our minds.
We Monkeys serve the ruling Apes,
As chattels when the Gorilla raves.
Prosimians live in the slums,
To serve as well-treated slaves.
Nature and the forest we value,
As well as good simplicity.
Telling stories of our traditions,
Songs and music in our vicinity.
Omnivores with great appetites,
Not trusting the outsiders.
Tribal customs rule our lives,
Not strangers who are machine riders.
One simple community,
One humble society,
Stewarding the beasts and birds
Of the Monkey forest propriety.
