The sun shone brightly into the bedroom of the house. The room instantly warned, and the birds had just began chirping their daily tune. Melinda kept her eyes closed, feeling Phil shift in the bed so he was facing her.
"Mel, it's morning. Time to get up."
She smiled. She new Phil had probably only been up a few minutes before her, since she was normally the early riser out of the two of them. But, she had what could be considered a rough night.
With her eyes still closed shut she said, "Ten more minutes."
Phil smiled, "I'll try, but Agent #1 will be up in about five minutes."
"Agent #2 has been up since 5am," she said as both of their hands went to her round stomach, feeling their son lazily kick his mother.
Phil was about to respond, when their bedroom door was suddenly opened by Agent #1. He smiled at the sight of his 4 year-old daughter wearing the Captain America t-shirt he had bought her for her birthday last month.
"Hi Daddy! Hi Mommy! Can I come in?" she asked rocking back and forth on her heels.
"Sur-" Phil had barely spoken the word before she ran over to the bed and he lifted her up to sit between him and Melinda.
"What's for breakfast?" she asked, her big blue eyes searching her father's matching ones.
"I don't know. How about we ask Mommy?" he said as he pulled her and Melinda into a hug.
"Umm...how about Daddy's famous pancakes?"
"Yeah!" the little girl practically shouted as she tried to run out of the bed. Phil grabbed the mini version of his wife before she could hurt herself and chuckled as he slowly climbed out of the bed.
"Ok, how about you help me Skylar, while we let Mommy rest for a little longer?"
"Ok, daddy! See you later Mommy!" she said as she grabbed her father's hand as they walked out the room.
Melinda smiled at the sight as she rubbed her belly where her son still kicking. She closed her eyes as she slowly went back to sleep.
Melinda jerked awake from her dream. Her hand instantly went to her stomach and she realized it was flat. She looked to right side of the bed and there was nobody there. It hit her that it was all a dream. She looked out her window to the beachy sands of Tahiti. It was pouring rain all over the beaches, and it looked like a tropical storm was coming. A single tear ran down her face as she realized that a storm had hit her heart taking away the love of her life forever. Her dream would never come true now.
