"Ban, you refer to yourself as a Fireball. Surely you saw this coming."
The aforementioned Fireball pouted profusely. "Haw can you be so mean to me, partner?"
Normally, this was when Hoji would tell him not to call him by that term, but today he was too busy trying his damndest not to laugh out loud. The team had been trying to arrest an Alienizer causing trouble downtown, and Ban, like always had rushed in first without consulting his teammates... and therefore, didn't hear when Jasmine mentioned that the Alienizer's species could breathe fire.
Luckily, Ban had emerged mostly unharmed. However, he was thoroughly crispy.
"Oh come on, partner!" Ban leaned against him heavily, much to Hoji's dismay. "Don't you have any aloe? Ice, maybe? Anything?"
Hoji thought about it... and then he allowed himself a smile. "Yes, Ban. I do have something for you."
The other man's soot-stained face lit up. "Really?"
Hoji patted Ban's cheek tenderly. "You have my pity. It must be hard, being the one member of SPD without a brain."
He ignored Ban's very loud protests as he tried to make it back to his quarters and keep a straight face at the same time. Once he was in his room, he could die laughing
