"Mom", Remus said. "When will I go to Hogwarts?"

At first Jane didn't say anything. She just held him tight. Rocked him. Stroke his hair.

"Someday", she said eventually.

"But I'm almost eleven…"

"Yes, my dear. But you're fragile."

"I don't want to be fragile!"

He had tears in his eyes.

"There's nothing bad about being fragile, love."

"Yes there is!" Remus tried to break loose from his mother's embrace. "And I'm not even fragile... I'm, I'm a… monster…"

Jane released him in dismay. "Remus!"

Now tears streamed down both of their faces.

At first, they didn't noticed the owl.
