WARNING: Spoiler of chapter 57 and major spoiler of chapter 59!
Disclaimer: I do not own Pandora Hearts
I wrote this little poem for Elliot because I felt like I had to. This is probably the last time I write about him because all my guesses were wrong (his connection with Glen etc) and well what happened to him was just… unexpected. I was a bit sad about it (very sad in fact) but this twist in the story shows just how much Jun Mochizuki is a great author! I just love Pandora Hearts and I'll continue to read.
This is the first time I write a poem in English. I'm French and poetry in France as a lot of very strict rules that I was taught so I felt kind of free writing this…
Now I'll stop talking about me (sorry for the long introduction…)
Statice
He wanted to be strong,
He refused to be wrong,
Living life with no regrets,
With a smile as bright as the sunset,
Piercing eyes always looking forward,
A dazzling future in sight.
Just why was he unable to reach the light?
Because reality had to strike back?
Because happy endings never fit in the dark?
For a long time he had denied his defeat,
Struggling against forces he wasn't supposed to meet,
Proudly carrying his dark inheritance,
Even in the dreams that poisoned his existence.
Always blazing on the outside,
While frozen in the past inside,
He was unable to take a step
Down the road his uprightness had create.
But still courageous as his heartbeat was decreasing
He never hated his family's cursed destiny,
Only in his last breath was he sad he couldn't see
The beautiful eyes who witnessed his everything,
Colored like the flower of his life:
"Statice", that's how he always was.
If you don't remember, "Statice" was the title Leo gave to the melody he gave to Elliot as a present and it also is a flower associated with Elliot by the author (on the great cover of the 14th volume for example!) which means "something that doesn't move" and in flower language "remembrance" (and also success and sympathy which is quite a paradox and quite true at the same time). And so this choice is just great because for me Elliot even if he tried his best wasn't able to change his fate.
Again I talked too much! Hope you liked it, please leave me a review if you have time, I just love them and they help me improve! ^^
