"Itachi!" Slender arms reached out towards a black silhouette with shocking red eyes. Tiny hands came up and softly rested on pale cheeks as Itachi kneeled down in front of the child.
"Are you okay? What happened?"
"Naruto, I must leave Konoha." Blood red eyes watched as blue eyes widened in shock and confusion.
"Itachi-kun... Are you leaving because of me?" The blond known as Naruto brought his arms around himself.
Of course Itachi was leaving. Everyone left. No one wanted to be near the demon. No one could ever love the monster that attacked Konoha. They all left him. Why? He wasn't the one that attacked the village he called home.
Itachi could not handle it as silent tears made their way down sun-kissed cheeks. He brought his arms up and brought Naruto into a firm hug.
"Never because of you Naru-chan. If anything it's YOU that keeps me in this god-forsaken village."
He always told Sasuke that showing his emotions was a weakness and acting upon them would be his demise but... Naruto was always the exception. Naruto, who, took every day head on with a smile on his face. Naruto who always did what he thought was right.
"I must leave for the safety of the Uchiha clan..."
'Or what's left of it,' thought Itachi.
Itachi closed his eyes as the images of his slaughtered clan flitted through his mind. The act itself was not a large blow to Itachi but his brother... Itachi would protect his brother, no matter the cost. A small hiccup interrupted his thoughts and he had to smile and correct himself. Not everything. He loved Naruto, more so than his brother, his clan and the whole Hidden Village of Konoha. He would never hurt Naruto.
"Naru-chan... Come with me." Rich cerulean eyes looked up to Itachi's own crimson eyes.
"The village..." Itachi sighed. Naruto, despite the villager's beastly deeds towards the innocent boy, cared deeply for the village.
"Will still be here Naru-chan. Come with me?" Naruto seemed torn between following the only one that's ever cared for him, loved him and the village that raised him, despite their actions against him.
Itachi held out a slender hand and waited. He would not force Naruto to come with him but...
A petite hand came up and held his own and Itachi let a small smile creep onto his face.
"I will follow you, Tachi-kun." An answering smile graced Naruto's face, royal blue eyes closed in happy bliss. Itachi let his smile grow just a little bit wider. Naruto was truly a blessing in his wretched life.
"Let's go to the Hokage Naru-chan, than we can start out on our adventure."
"Okay Tachi-kun!"
