Ray straitened out his shirt and brushed his long, girlish, purple hair into the usual low pigtails in front of the mirror in Alicia's room. He wanted to look good, he and Rosalind were going on their first 'real' date today, and he was going to propose.
He gently rubbed his fingers on the waxy petals of one of the many roses in the giant bouquet that he had traded with Max for nine tomatoes. He smiled into the mirror, and then, hiding the roses in a rucksack. Ray shrugged the bag onto his back and set off.

When Rosalind got to the Cherry Blossom square Ray was already there, sitting on the edge of the bench anxiously.

Ray stood up and walked over to Rosalind the second she stepped around the corner, onto the Cherry Blossom Square. He led her to the bench he had been sitting on, sat her down, and turning around, he pulled the bag off of his back and reached into it.

Rosalind stared quizzically at Ray's back as he took something out of the rucksack. As he turned around Rosalind could see what he was holding. She gasped.

" Rosalind, I love you with all of my being, will you marry me?" Ray closed his eyes and braced himself for her answer.

" Yes! Oh Ray! Yes!" Rosalind happily took the roses and in one swift motion, she smelt the bouquet, placed it down on the bench, and then, grabbing Ray's perfectly smoothed out shirt into a crumpled mess, she pressed her lips onto his. Ray kissed her back.
" I love you Rosalind..."
"I know"
