i like showing the non silly, non idiotic, sweet, caring side of sokka. he's like emmett in twilight. they're not just characters to make fun of. anyway....ONTO THE STORY!!!

Rock. Solid, strong, unmoving.

Unfeeling.

The words echoed in Toph's head. Her mantra. And a pretty good one. Because when you live a life full of danger, it's good to be unfeeling. It doesn't hurt as much when you lose something.

Or someone.

She felt Sokka stand up and walk around the fire to her. As he stood there in silence, she heard herself say,

"Can I help you, Snoozles?"

He scratched his head, something he only did when he was thinking.

"Uh, yeah, Toph. Wanna go for a walk?"

"Sure."

She stood and they walked into the nearby forest. Pausing by a stream, Sokka knelt down by the bank.

Toph crossed her arms. "Some walk."

Sokka smiled and scooped some clay from the streambed.

"See, Toph, I know what you say about being like a rock."

She stiffened. It was like he knew she had been thinking that. Sokka stood and stepped behind Toph. He put his arms around her so that the clay was being held in front of her. She lifted her trembling hands to cup the clay, and Sokka moved his hands so that they were over hers. He moved his hands with hers, molding and shaping the clay into all different forms.

"But maybe," He whispered in her ear, "you should be like this clay."

Toph blushed at his nearness.

"Because clay," He continued, " is still resilient. Strong. Entire cities are made from it. But clay, unlike rock, can change. Move. Be anything it wants to be. It can mean anything. Maybe you should be like clay."

"Clay." Toph whispered in response.

She turned her head to say something else, but Sokka took the opportunity and pressed his lips against hers. Toph's eyes widened and the clay fell to the ground.

Toph didn't need the example anymore anyway. Because as she turned to continue kissing him, Toph felt herself become more like clay. And Sokka could mold her into anything.

i dont like the ending very much, but thats how it came out. HOORAY FOR TOKKA!!
