Disclaimer: Characters belong to Ryan Murphy, I'm just borrowing them so they can do my bidding for a while.

A/N: I'm finally going to attempt to catch up on the drabbles. I know I've missed like… the 5 before this, but the idea for this just hit me and I had to get it down before I forgot.

Summary: Brooke knows exactly what she wants to say.

It was a culmination of moments that finally made Sam confess. The one on which the hinges of the swinging door that was their relationship broke in a manner that was unfixable, wasn't one that was particularly special. Brooke had done nothing more than rest her hand on Sam's arm, an act that wasn't exactly uncommon for them anymore. They'd grown closer, and that was the problem.

And so, in between fits of fear and sobs, Sam had poured her heart out. It had only been unexpected in the sense that she never thought either of them would say anything.

Brooke hadn't yelled, hadn't judged, hadn't acted repulsed. She hadn't said anything.

Except, "I need… time, Sam." And Sam, sweet, gentle, passionate Sam had said, "Okay." She'd laid herself bare and vulnerable, and allowed herself to cling, trembling, to the hope that lay in the fact that Brooke hadn't told her no. Beautiful brown eyes told Brooke everything anyone would ever need to know about longing. About love.

And it scared her.

The feelings were too strong.

So she used her time to compile a speech she knew would break the heart of the girl who cared so deeply for her.

With hesitant steps, she returned to Sam. Took one look at the now timid girl whose fire had captured her heart, who looked at Brooke like she was the most beautiful person alive. The only person alive.

And her speech was forgotten.

Her lips spoke for her heart instead.
