Drabbles – Mistakes –200 Words
The biggest mistake seemed to be deciding to get out of bed this morning; it was not going to be a good day.
Way to much wine had been consumed the night before and it was taking its' sweet time in finding its' way out of his system.
Dressing, he made his way to the throne room and stepped beside Alexander, who seemed completely under control and not suffering from any of the effects Hephaestion knew for sure he should be feeling today. By the gods, that man could drink and not suffer.
Runners arrived saying the delegates would soon arrive. Alexander smiled brightly at Hephaestion, making him want to put his hands around his neck and gleefully choke the king himself.
Willing himself to swallow his throbbing headache and steady his queasy stomach, Hephaestion stood tall. He was going to make it through this, showing Alexander that he could be just as strong as he was.
What he failed to remember was the horns welcoming the delegates only a few yards away from his ears. Uncrossing his eyes he swallowed hard, swaying more than slightly.
He also missed seeing Alexander grimace, more than a little, at the blaring noise.
