A Heart to Heart: Sukka
Suki walked outside to find Sokka leaning on the ledge of the balcony. She rested her arms on the ledge as well and her head on his shoulder.
"You wanted to talk to me?" she asked softly, but confidently.
"Yeah," he replied, his gaze focused up at the moon. It was almost full.
"Ok. I'm listening."
He smiled, but then a more serious, concerned look covered his face.
"I'm worried. It's about Katara," he said, almost with a confused look at this point. Suki jolted her head upward and darted her vision through the doorway as if someone was there.
"Oh my gosh! Is she alright?" she demanded and turned back around to face Sokka.
He shrugged. "Yeah. She's fine."
"Then…"
Her curiosity peaked, but was casually avoided.
"You know Aang, right?"
She glanced at him with a ferocious look that made his heart jump.
"Yes, of course, but I don't see how that pertains to-"
"Well," he cut in quickly, "I have a strong feeling he likes her."
She put a hand on his shoulder and her eyes echoed with compassion.
"Aww, that is so adorable!"
He shut his eyes and shook his head. "No. No it isn't."
"What?" she asked and raised an eyebrow.
Sokka withdrew from the ledge and began to pace in front of her.
"I don't like it," he started, "I don't like it at all."
"Why? He seems like a good kid."
At this, Sokka paced even faster, widening his pivots.
"That's exactly it," he replied, "they're just kids. They're too young to like each other. They're too young to even think they like each other. I won't allow it. So I've been… uh… interfering. Every time he flirts with her, or tries to touch her… or… or I don't know… I do my best to prevent it."
Suki giggled at her newest thought.
"You're cock-blocking him?" she asked without a tint of embarrassment in her voice, and highly amused.
"Suki! That is SO not the right word!" He stopped pacing and stuck his tongue out in disgust.
"Well, it's what you're doing. You weren't going to say it, so…" she quieted herself after looking at him, but picked back up. "Sokka. It's young love." She cupped his cheek in her hand. "Let them have their fun."
He shivered at the thought of his sister and the avatar having their 'fun'.
"Suki! She is my sister! Don't talk like that! UGH!"
He started to walk back inside, fuming.
"Sokka? Sokka, where are you going?"
"I'm going to tell that boy to stay away from my sister!"
"No! Sokka, don't." She had caught up to him and grabbed him by the arm. He winced as she quickly pulled him towards her to kiss him, but jerked away.
"No, Suki. Your siren-like aura can't stop me!"
"If you interfere with their business, I won't kiss you again."
This surely got his attention.
"Ever again?" he said quietly and she crossed her arms.
"Nope."
"Well, if you do that, I'll… I'll…"
"You'll what?"
"I'll do something… and you won't like it!"
She paused, but smiled.
"Oh, Sokka – what is there that you could possibly do to me that you haven't already?"
"Well, I could show you, but…"
She rolled her eyes at him.
"That came out wrong, didn't it?" she asked.
He pulled her by the waist so that she was touching him and put his arm around her neck.
"It sure did. But you know? I'm okay with that."
She laughed.
"So, you're going to leave those two alone?"
"Only if you promise to never stop loving me," he replied and smiled softly. She looked into his eyes and blushed.
"I promise."
"Then, I'll leave them alone. You know, they're really lucky you're so amazing, because if you weren't, I'd… I'd…"
"Sokka… just stop while you're ahead." She said, giggling.
He looked down and sighed. "Yeah… probably a good idea."
