A/N: Just a little oneshot written after Madeline's arrest in 'My Fair Madeline'. I never realised this before- but man, Madeline went through so damn much in that movie! So, I hope this oneshot is relatively enjoyable. It's my first one in this fandom, so I hope Madeline's alright, character wise.

...

Her heart still pulsating in disbelief as iron slammed against stone, Madeline sat in her prison cell- all the way in London, so far from home, and with her in disgrace...

All that time sleuthing...desperate messages to friends and the authorities, lying, snooping around for information, pursuing the thieves, saving the King's crown and sceptre...only to end up behind bars under the false assumption of assisting the thieves stealing the Crown Jewels.

She didn't regret a moment of what she had done- although perhaps omitting her unexpected vantage point from Big Ben would have been appreciated- but from the moment she decided to step up and fight for the law back home at the Louvre, she had been pushed around, threatened and ignored by adults, and humiliated thanks to Emma - from Miss Higginbottom's school, which had also been her own temporary home until now.

Now, she had been left in the dark.

But at least her courage hadn't snubbed her. It had been her only companion in the rainy pursuit of the thieves; stuck by her to the end as she fought to stop the thieves from stealing the Crown Jewels. Most important of all; it hadn't betrayed her and her already battered trust.

Her time in London had definitely called her to be brave- and she will remain courageous to the end, even if the huge black clouds of disgrace hung over her head.

A police man arrived outside her cell, and Madeline gulped. She knew what this was for, and she felt her hands about to interlock together- but she kept them by her sides. She was going to be brave.

Even if she was going to get her fingerprints and mug shot taken, instead of being taught how to curtsey and talk to people politely, Madeline had never found more a better time to be a lady than now.

What kept her going was her heart telling her she had done right- even if the London adults around her thought her to be nothing more than an unruly thief.
