A/N: Finally I posted something new! I realize its short and somewhat drabble-y, but at least I posted something right? I'm gonna try to post something at least once a week, probably mostly on Saturdays. Anyway, enjoy this somewhat depressing story.
He could've taken her anywhere in the world, any century, minute, second that she desired. Ironic how she would wish to freeze it all in the moment they were together.
The memory of him would haunt her for years to come, the lasting impression of something you love but will never feel in reality again. He wasn't the only one she had ever loved, perhaps he wouldn't be the last, but he was the exception. Never had she or would she ever love someone like that again. So selflessly, so innocently, so completely. So carelessly.
She had loved him for so long, quietly, not wanting to shatter the glass that they walked upon. He was alone for such a long time, far away even as he stood beside her. She had unknowingly melted his hearts over the time she grew to know him, but she knew there were things he would never reveal, pain too dark for the human heart, pain that cracked his two hearts combined until it must surely burst. To love him was to love something that would eventually tear you apart, but she kept denying it to herself.
Maybe she'd known by the first trip in the TARDIS, if not then definitely by the tenth, that he would be the death of her. The adventures she went upon were a rush that could not be matched, an experience that thrilled her and terrified her simultaneously to a degree that would never be rivaled. More frightening than that, and most certainly more dangerous, the thought of living without him. She found that thought haunting her more as time went on, and certain doom began to approach.
Things still stood out that were tangible to her, if only in her mind. The smell of the chips they would get when they were in London, the chilled air compared to the warm TARDIS when stepping outside, the way it felt to have his arms around her and the excuses just to get in that situation . She smiled even now at the thought. She would stay up nights thinking of it and him, only to worry that her memory had failed her, and the things she felt were mere shadows of a once strong piece of history.
He had taken her places that were truly unforgettable. New Earth, The Olympics, 1940s London, and uncountable other fabulous destinations. She'd met famous people from practically every century and continent, and looked down on Earth from space. Hell, she'd even fought Daleks and Cybermen and beat the odds at least for a little while. He'd given her the world ten times over and never expected anything in return.
And then he would've let her go. Would've felt his heart break watching her leave him just so she could be with her family and all she'd ever known. But she couldn't leave him. Faced with the nightmare she'd had for months coming, she'd stood with him. She wouldn't, couldn't leave him. Even if it killed her. Even if it ripped apart everything she'd ever had, because living without him would only mean the same a thousand times over.
She knew he fell in love with her a little more everyday. She watched as it pained him because he knew more than she ever could what they would eventually come to. As usual in the end he was right. They were alone, separated between two dimensions that could never collide. She felt the bittersweet smile on her face. She could never regret him.
I hope you enjoyed it! Or at least didn't hate it... Anyway, reviews always make me happy! :)
