The Evil Queen-
When the day comes to an end,
Alone she stands without a friend.
So many have beaten down on her with all their might,
And yet they wonder why her heart is dark as night.
They fail to see beneath her flawless skin,
Each one blind to the broken woman hidden just within.
No one dares give her a chance for they fear what they might see,
She knows her sins and does not look back on them in twisted glee.
Each face haunts her as she sleeps,
Every night Death thanks her and for their souls she weeps.
They wonder how she stands so tall with no regret,
Clueless to the fact that she is always paying the price that has been set.
To all of them she is the Evil Queen,
But in the mirror she is the ghost of a girl never to be seen.
They never look beyond the stories and the lies,
Never seeing the woman under the elaborate disguise.
She has built up walls to keep out pain,
And whilst they stand, love she shall never truly gain.
This is the debt that she must pay,
For she knows no other way.
After years knowing little of love,
Losing her stable boy was the final shove.
And now she tumbles through the dark,
The claws of grief having left their mark.
The darkness makes her its work of art,
A broken girl with a broken heart,
Destined for pain from the very start.
