Red Like Roses
(In Memory of Monty Oum)

A desert plain on a winter's eve
Where shadows skulk and bay;
A crystal fort with ringing bells
And trees to light the lonely way;

In time, another time will pass,
And we'll forget this day,
But standing firm in memories
Your work and words forever stay.

All that was will never be,
Nor can the ancients say
What circles round and haunts us now:
Their minds have long gone away.

Your mind disguised in tragedy,
The thoughts that slipped away,
And yet our loss was less than yours
That unpredicted final day.

Pass on to legend, as you were,
Though pure you will not stay;
Remain in hearts that see them through
Wheresoever lies their way.
