She lifts up, she is graceful and infinite. The sky is her ally; they are one together. Fuu takes flight and Mugen and Jin fall back down. They hit the ground hard and the grass stands tall over them.
But Fuu, Fuu is spectacular. She glides by the clouds with the wind taking her hand to guide her. She is flying, and she is free.
She can let go of her fears.
And then, she spreads her wings. And her wings are vibrant and they are soft.
The sun is against her face; warm and alive.
Fuu is free.
Mugen and Jin, they grip to each other. Hot wrists clamp over the other to hold one another down.
They do not ever want to let go.
They can never let go.
The shadows they cast over themselves make them heavy with guilt – and they cannot let go of their pasts.
Or each other.
Mugen is a brace for Jin and Jin is a crutch for Mugen.
As long as they rely on each other, they will never be able to fly. They will never be able to let go.
So they will never be free.
Not from themselves or their fears.
Not even from each other.
