Mayan marriage

Disclaimer: I don't own Bones. If that would be the case, this Fanfic would not exist because Pelant wouldn't made that ominous phone call, and we wouldn't have such a sad finale. I'm really angry at Hart Hanson right now, but I made some anthropological research so… this is the result. Spoilers for season finale and also season 8 premiere

Mayan Marriage.

Booth was angry, really angry at himself for hurting the woman he loved the most, and at Pelant, for making him do it. He fell on the couch and began to think, when suddenly he remembered something. In those ominous months she was on the run, he read all her anthropological books, and remembered one with a chapter about marriage on different cultures. He spent all night searching the books looking for the one he was looking for, when he found it, he read the chapter about marriage with all his attention, he found what he wanted, marked the page and went to bed on the guest room, he didn't want to disturb her sleep.

The following morning Brennan was already gone when Booth woke up, which was good for his plans. He was a man on a mission. He had a shower and left the house to put his plan on motion, first stop, the organic market Brennan loved so much. In the market he bought some corn and cocoa seeds. Next stop, the Jeffersonian

When he arrived he was stopped by a really furious Angela, he tried to pass through her, but she was really furious and he couldn't avoid here.

-Do you know what have you done? The artist asked.

-Yeah, I know Ange, that's what I'm here, trying to make it better. Booth answered

-How?- asked the artist

-You'll see. Is she in her office?. Asked Booth

-No, she's been all morning in limbo- replied Angela

-Fine, let me 10 minutes to set something up on her office and leave, then asked her to go to her office

With that, Booth went to Brennan's office. He put the booth he read last night, and a note inside it. "I love you, remember Vegas?", then he put the note marking the page about mayan marriage and the bags with the cocoa and corn seeds on the desk next to the book.

10 minutes later, as she was told, Angela made Brennan go to her office saying they needed to talk. When they arrived, Brennan saw the book, the note and the bags. Then realization hit her and run to the door.

-Sorry Ange, I gotta go, by the way. Would you mind taking care of Christine for the night?

-Yeah, I'0ll pick her up from daycare when I pick up Michael. But why?

-Booth brought this, right?

-Yes, why are you asking?

-Handing the bags and the booth to Angela, Brennan said. Please look what it's in the bags, and read the marked page, Angela did as told, and realization hit her as well. Ok sweetie, I'll take care of Christine, have fun.

Booth was nervous when he arrived home that night, he didn't know if his plan had turned out ok, so he was really anxious. When he arrived home, he found Brennan making a corn salad and chocolate, dressed on her Roxie dress, and that's when he knew. Brennan when she heard him arrive went to greet him and kissed him and then whispering on his ear she said.

-Would you like to be engaged to be engaged, and marry me when we catch this son of a bitch?

-Yes, was Booth's answer, and he proceeded to what he would liked to do six years ago on that Vegas hotel room

A/N. I made some research, on Mayan culture, the groom is supposed to give the bride cocoa and corn seeds, and the bride has to cook them. That is what Booth remembers reading on the antrophology book, and uses it as a way of telling Brennan he does want to marry her
