Wow... I am so, so, so sorry. I should have restarted this sooner. Wow... So, um, yeah, anyway, here goes: No lame excuses for why I was gone for so long, but here is the new improved chapter one of The Smallest of Sounds! :D

If you've read this before, welcome back! If you're new to the story, and by extension the new plot, you didn't miss anything because it was awful before. So, I welcome everyone to the new beginning of The Smallest of Sounds! :D

Really quickly, I'm going to explain this AU: There's no Smokescreen (for personal reasons), it's mostly Decepticon centered, and they all live in Darkmount, the Autobot base is still standing, and Predaking and Shockwave are here, too, Prime is alive still, and they're still looking for Iacon relics. Okay, on to the story!

Chapter 1

Over the course of a few mere Earth hours, the Decepticon's chances for winning the war had dwindled into the negatives with one officer down. Technically, he wasn't dead, and definitely not injured, but Megatron had no use for a sparkling, of all things! And it just had to be his communications officer, the bot he relied on most in order to actually get anything done. Six Earth hours ago Soundwave had located another Iacon relic, and as far as he knew the Autobots hadn't picked up on its location. Starscream had been out on recon, Shockwave was busy with Predacon fossil retrieval, only Primus knew where Knockout was, so that just left the Decepticon Lord and his ever loyal third in command.

Megatron had decided to bring along the spy, a decision he regretted. As soon as the groundbridge closed another opened some two-hundred meters behind them, the Autobot leader himself stepped through the vortex of green and white, followed by the scout and the wrecker. The four (assumedly five) of them locked angry, stubborn gazes with each other, and it became a flat-out race. The gladiator and his officer took to the air while the mechs below drove as fast as possible. Soundwave flew ahead, the yellow scout gaining on the darker mech. The communications chief transformed mid-air, landing with a solid thud at the base of a cliff.

Behind him, the Autobot transformed, using the momentum from his speeding to fling himself forwards, his servo clenched into a fist, ready to smash in that visor. Soundwave spun around with speed many didn't know he possessed, effortlessly batting away the smaller bot. The warlord transformed, pedes hitting the rocky ground, crushing anything beneath. He drew his blade and charged directly at Optimus, faceplate contorted into a vicious snarl.

Behind him, his officer dug through the cliff, tendrils out and drilling through the rock. Bumblebee charged at him once again, a string of beeps and warbles escaping his damaged vocalizer. Meanwhile, two forces crashed, two blades striking each other repeatedly, neither able to break the other's defenses. The two warriors clashed repeatedly, each blow stronger than the last, one fueled by rage and the other simply trying to hold up long enough so his teammates could retrieve the relic and they would leave.

It was more than a challenge to finally retrieve the relic without too much damage taken, but Soundwave had found it. It was an odd little thing that was essentially a decorated hilt with a glass sphere welded to the top, decorative strips of metal streaked the clear orb. A wrestling match broke out between the three of them while Optimus and Magtron still fought. In the end, though, the wrecker had easily pinned the spy to the ground with a sudden tackle while the scout ripped the relic from Soundwave's long fingers, standing triumphantly with the relic in hand.

"Optimus, we got it!" Bulkhead had called, quickly getting up and contacting Ratchet for a groundbridge.

While he did not respond verbally, the Prime did nod, shoving with all of his strength his enemy away, turning and running towards the newly created bridge. Bumblebee rushed forwards, only to trip as a dark, striped tendril caught his pede and the relic slipped from his servo. It hit the ground with a soft, muted rattle and the empty sphere filled with a rusty orange light. A bolt of lightening shot from the relic, a loud rattling noise filling the air as the electricity swerved with a mind of its own directly at Soundwave, hitting its mark. A bright flash filled each mech's vision, leaving them blinded for just a few astroseconds before they could all see clearly once again.

In the place of the Decepticon communications officer was a scrawny, darkly-colored sparkling who sat quietly on the rocky ground. The relic laid just as quietly where it had been dropped, the confused and shocked looks of the mechs fighting over it reflected on its pristine globe. Staring curiously up at them were two yellow optics, sharply contrasting the dark blues and vibrant purples of the rest of the sparkling-turned-mech. The visor that had hidden the unique features was gone, as if wiped from existence completely. The Autobots fled, leaving a very shocked warlord to stare blankly at his previous officer and the discarded relic.

At the present time, the silver mech sat in his throne, having o idea what to do with the little Cybertronian gazing with wide yellow optics up at him from the floor. After he'd taken Soundwave and the relic back with him, he immediately brought the relic to Shockwave, who was studying it to look for a reversal to this odd effect, and he'd taken Soundwave to Knockout. The medic had no idea what to think. Knockout didn't particularly like sparklings, not that he'd had a lot of interaction with them, since there hadn't been any for millennia. Physically, Soundwave was perfectly healthy, so Megatron carried the little mech back to his throneroom, setting him on the floor and thought.

What was he going to do?

Well. I'm not proud of it, but here you go, I guess... I hope it's not too disappointing... Once again, I'm really sorry for the insane delay, hopefully it won't be this long for another update again. Thanks for reading, and please, by all means, review if you want to, 'cause I'd love to know what you think! :D
