I would like to dedicate this fic to quinnthatsgay and FairyLies, because it was with their support that I was able to sit down and write again. Thank you both so much. I haven't written any fics in such a long time... hopefully this isn't absolute crap.
Spelling and grammar mistakes are all mine.
The song used is called "Black" by Pearl Jam.
Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay
Were laid spread out before me as her body once did.
The sight of her wife lying on the hospital bed was forever engraved into Quinn's mind. She had been a wreck when the doctors told them that there was nothing they could do to save her wife… in fact, Quinn was still a wreck.
The blonde had refused to let go of Santana's cold body, wrapping the Latina's arm around herself. Quinn had always been the big spoon in their relationship, but this time, she just needed to feel her wife's arms around her.
Quinn wept until she was so exhausted that she passed out. Only George and Maribel Lopez were able to coax their daughter-in-law out of the bed so the hospital staff could wheel Santana's body away.
The blonde cursed the drunk driver who had taken her two girls away from her.
All five horizons revolved around her soul as the earth to the sun
Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn
Ooh, and all I taught her was everything
Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore
Quinn and Santana made each other stronger. They turned each other's insecurities and fears into their greatest strengths. Neither of the two women were afraid to be themselves, as long as they had each other.
The day Santana and their child died, Quinn didn't have anything to live for anymore.
And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds of what was everything.
Oh, the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything…
Quinn traced the tattoo on her right wrist with her index finger. It was an infinity sign that connected Santana's name with that of her unborn child… Emma.
The blonde sighed, taking another swig of the bottle of whisky that she held in her left hand, attempting to drown her grief and sorrows away.
I take a walk outside, I'm surrounded by some kids at play
I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear?
Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin round my head, I'm spinning, oh,
I'm sinning, how quick the sun can drop away
Quinn hated leaving her house. Seeing other parents with their children always reminded her of what she had lost.
And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass of what was everything
All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything…
All the love gone bad turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I'll be… yeah…
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,
I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky,
But why, why, why can't it be, can't it be mine?
Quinn clutched a picture of a smiling Santana who had one hand on her baby bump.
"I'll be with you two soon, my darlings," Quinn whispered, before pouring all the pills in her mouth and drowning them with whisky.
Quinn smiled one last smile, and then everything went black.
To my readers: I am so sorry about the lack of updates. Life's been hectic though, so I'm not sure when the next update will be. However, I do promise to try my best to finish up all the fics that I've started. Until next time...
