Rain thudded on the ship's portholes as Rachel Green stared at the long streaks it left behind. She was going on a trip to the Americas and the journey was far from over. Sigh. She pulled out a minuscule book and opened it gently as though the book may crumble under her very hands. Inside were scribbles and symbols of many strange kinds, totally engrossed in the book, she hadn't noticed someone at her door. Knock knock. Rachel jumped and quickly slammed the book shut as she opened the door and poked her head out into the hallway. "Hey Ray!" her sometimes annoying best friend Isabelle Riley called brightly.

"Hey Belle." she replied a bit irritably.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

Rachel sighed, rolling her eyes slightly. "Nothin'", "What's up?" she asked.

"Wanna come up to the deck with me?" Isabelle asked bouncing up and down.

"It's raining though!" she exclaimed in a half-amused and half-exasperated tone. "Besides, I have other things to do then milling around pointlessly in the rain."

"Fine!" Isabelle said flipping her golden-brown hair over her shoulder and started to stroll away. "But I'm going anyway."

Rachel rolled her eyes and closed the door and went back to her book. Just as she was about to start reading again, the ship gave a violent jerk and the lights went out...
