*I don't own Jane and the Dragon or it's characters.
Tonight is the annual masquerade ball. Everyone comes adorned in the most peculiar masks and colorful clothing. It's a night where the oddest things can happen, so this year I want to patrol the castle.
As I entered my room I found a note with a dress on my bed
"Hmm what is this? A note"
It reads:
"Jane my beautiful knight, won't you join me at the ball tonight?
I will be the one wearing the white mask with a painted red rose on it.
Love, mysterious stranger"
"Dragon? What do you think?"
"Sounds like fun. I think you should go"
"But what about patrolling the castle?"
"I'll do it, just have fun. But you owe me"
"Thank you my lovable green newt"
Picking up the dress, a black dress embroidered with stars and came with a mask shaped like a crescent moon.
At the Masquerade ball.
At the ball I spot Rake and Pepper with masks the shape of roses. Around the fire stood Smithy with a pig mask. Then I saw it the one, no, two men wearing the same mask, but one dressed in all white and the other dressed in all black. As soon as I'm noticed by the two mysterious strangers, the two walked toward me and knelt before me. In unison they asked "will you dance with the day or will you and with the night?"
How clever
"Tonight is an eclipse so I will dance with both the day and the night"
They bow once and we start to dance. The two dance in a circle around me, both in unison. Neither miss a step. When I danced with the day the night dances in a circle, when I dance with night, day dances in a circle. Then when the three of us danced as one, we were in balance. At the end of the ball, right before the sun rose, the two quickly spin around me as they say in unison "It's time for the moon to sleep, and time for us to part, let's us greet and depart"
The day stood on my left and the night on my right, and in unison they kiss my cheeks and run off. Since it was a few until breakfast, I went back to my room,as I opened my door, there was a white and black rose with a note.
The note read:
We both enjoyed your company. We will soon meet again.
For now enjoy your sleep, and let's us meet in the night in your dreams.
From the mysterious strangers
Putting down the note, I went to sleep.
And later, I was woken up by Gunther and Jester.
Jester stood on the left, reminded me "Jane, your going to be late for breakfast"
And Gunther stood on the right, scolded me "Jane this is no time to be sleeping, your going to miss target practice"
"I'll be ready for breakfast and make it for target practice. Now leave so that I may get dressed."
As they left I wondered
Were they the day and the night? I'll guess I'll figure that out when we all meet together again on the next eclipse.
