There was no way that this would happen. Rin looked at the battlefield in front of him. Fire, blue fire, was everywhere. Bodies were scattered around but one that stood out was a blonde headed girl. 'Shiemi?'
Rin walked up closer to the body. It was Shiemi. Her skin which was a porcelain before was now an ashy white. Cheery, emerald eyes that used to hold such an innocence about them were closed. Blood soaked her body like a sponge and formed a puddle around her kimono clad body.
'NO! SHIEMI!'
Rin's eyes racked over her body. He looked for any sign of breathing and found none. 'Shiemi, I promised you… And I failed….' Rin lowered his head. Sadness enveloped him as tears were soon running down his face.
"Look at what your carelessness did Rin. You killed her!" A voice floated next to his ear.
Rin didn't look up. A quiet but solid "Shut up" was heard.
"If you weren't so stubborn, none of this would've happened. Shiemi would still be alive. This is all your fault." The voice taunted.
Flames soon engulfed his body as he let out a demonic roar. "SHUT THE HELL UP!"
Rin looked up. Shiemi's body was in front of him. Her face was twisted. Her mouth had a sardonic curl to it and… were those fangs protruding from her mouth? Her green eyes were gone, replaced by bottomless black pits. Blonde hair was matted with blood and stuck to her face.
Her voice was scratchy and deep.
"RIN! LOOK AT WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME!"
Rin woke up with a gasp and lurched forward in his bed, throwing Kuro off the bed in the process.
'It was only a nightmare.' Rin thought as his hand came up to push his bangs out of his face.
Kuro leapt up back onto the bed. "Rin? Are you ok?" Kuro asked as he tilted his head slightly to the right.
"Yeah… I'm fine." Rin said. He took a deep breath and released it. "That's the first nightmare I've had in years." Rin mused in his mind. "But not the first one of Shiemi."
Although he would not care to admit it out loud, Shiemi had wiggled her way into his mind since he had gotten to know her. At first he thought it was the appreciation of a friend that caused him to like her but as weeks went by, he realized that he wanted to be something more than just friends. He realized that when she accepted him still as a person after it was announced to everyone that he was the spawn of Satan. And it didn't help that naïve nature had him keeping himself up late into the early hours of the morning. Rin was so caught up in his musing that he was startled when he heard Kuro's voice in his head.
"Rin you've got ten minutes to get to class." Kuro said as he licked his paw.
Rin looked at the clock and just like Kuro predicted he did indeed have ten minutes to get to class.
Rin jumped out of bed. He be damned if he would be late again today! Rin ran toward his closet and quickly threw on his clothes. "DAMNIT, WHY DIDN'T THAT FOUR-EYED MOLE WAKE ME UP?!" Rin yelled as he dashed out the door.
Kuro looked at the boy as he rushed he rushed out the door and curled on the mess of blankets on the bed. "One day he'll learn." He thought as he went back to sleep on his masters bed.
So this is the beginning. I promise it'll get better. I'm new to rated M areas so please forgive me. Anyway, I'm going to try and work on this whenever I can since I also have another one going on as well. Bear with me. Anyway reviews are loved and cherished like a stuffed animal.
