She knew she had messed up. Her mind and her movements had betrayed each other and it was the end. For once though, the prospect of dying, didn't scare her.
To be honest, she was relieved. She was so tired at this point.
It was sad, to be so tired at only twenty-five, but after a while, people's memories, ones that weren't your own and were never supposed to be known except by the person who held them first, took a toll on someone. She didn't understand how her father had done it for so long, or anyone else for that matter.
It was especially horrible when you could no longer differentiate your memories from the memories of others. When you started thinking of different ways a scenario that didn't even happen to you could have ended. When you couldn't tell your thoughts and theirthoughts apart. When you ended up going home and crying for the a murderous criminal you had helped put away because you had actually got to know them through their thoughts and you were the one that knew that they were, believe it or not, human.
There was also another thing it ended up changing Ino into, a liar and a pretender. She didn't have much of a choice though. She wasn't very happy anymore, but she was good at faking it. In front of the others, she was the same Ino they knew that laughed, loved having fun, and seemed as tenacious and bright as ever. The truth was that that wasn't her anymore, but she'd rather fake it than bring them down.
Alas, the pain and misery seems to be over for her though. She smiled, and despite the blood that was slowly seeping from her side of her abdomen, she didn't feel any pain. She was too far gone and far too numb to. She was ready for this.
The only regret she had about this was that her boys would have to go it alone from now on. That was scary to her. Not because they weren't capable, but because her and her boys had already lost so much, and now she was going to make them go through it again we they had just picked up the pieces. Of course, she would always watch over her boys, and she knew that they would know that. She would never truly leave them behind.
Her mind, beginning to fade on her and becoming more cloudy, for once, seemed like a blessing. Finally, the only thoughts that were left to cloud her mind were her own. Finally, she felt like herself again, only herself. Of course, the only thoughts that clouded her mind were that of her team, her friends, and her family. She couldn't think of anything else.
Funny, how when she finally did get her mind back, she could only think about the others.
Ironic, how now she wasn't so keen on leaving them behind.
Unfortunate, that it was too late and she was too far gone to change it.
But, hey, at least she got the escape she wanted.
