Author's Note: Lawls... Tana's a klutz. Enjoy the drabble-ness, people!
The seaside fascinated her. She looked down from the cliff that they walked along, fascinated by the rolling tides. She pulled at Ephraim's sleeve excitedly and pointed. "Ephraim, Ephraim! Look, a whale!"
Sure enough, when the prince looked, a huge fin slapped the water and went back under. He smiled. "No matter how much you come to the sea, you're still simply in love with it, aren't you?"
She nodded, grinning. "Absolutely. I'm so… it's just so energizing, being near it!"
That was when she tripped on the rock. The princess tumbled down the small cliff, right into the water. She kicked furiously, trying to stay afloat, but her armor weighed her down. Tana tried to shout for help, but it was cut off by her armor dragging her head under. You could still see her outline, for she kicked as if her life depended on it-- and it did-- but she was under the water still.
Ephraim undid the ties on his armor in a few seconds, if that, and dove, to Eirika's dismay. The prince saw vaguely, when he opened his eyes and ignored the salty sting in them, Tana's silhouette, sinking quickly despite her best efforts to get her armor off.
He kicked down at her, until he could get his arm around her waist. His legs being much stronger than hers, and since she was light as a feather to him anyway, he powered them up to the surface in nearly ten seconds. Tana's eyes fluttered open, and she sighed, taking in the fresh air. Ephraim pulled them towards the beach a few yards away, and set Tana on the sand. He then took a breath and began. "Tana, you could have died! From now on, I'LL walk the path closest to the edge! Why on earth would you have not been looking where you were walking? You know the dangers that the sea poses, even though it is beautiful-- if you had had more armor on…"
She coughed up some sea water, and Ephraim stopped to clap her on the back. She coughed up quite a bit of water after that. Then the princess looked at Ephraim with a smile on her face. "I am sorry that I was not more careful. I am in your debt, Ephraim. Thank you so, so much, for saving my life--"
Innes strode up to them, worry and anger written all over his face. "Tana!" he yelled, shaking her shoulders.
She giggled. "Innes, don't yell at me. Your energy would be better spent thanking Ephraim. He saved me."
At that moment, Ephraim didn't notice. He was too busy realizing that Tana's clothes… were wet. Soaking wet. Innes seemed to notice this, too, because he grabbed Ephraim's cape and said, "Tana, cover up. You are both shivering, and indecent-- oh, don't look at me like that! You know what I'm talking about!"
