Once upon a time there was a girl who lost everything

Once upon a time there was a girl who lost everything.

As she read this line she thought back on everything that she had lost since coming on tour with Chris.

She'd lost her girlfriends in Brooke and Peyton; P.Sawyer had never forgiven her for running out on Nathan and for leaving him to tour with a guy who had come between husband and wife. She hardly had time to keep in contact with Brooke her first female friend who she went shopping with and talked guys to, due to her busy tour schedule. She'd lost her two best (and truthfully only) girlfriends because of her decision to come on tour with Chris.

Although she still had some form of regular contact with Lucas and Karen it still felt as if she'd lost the closeness their relationship used to have. Lucas her best friend since kindergarten and she didn't know what was going on in his life because she was too wrapped up in tour business to make the effort. Karen may still be talking to her but they had lost the mother-daughter relationship they had, it felt as if Karen was slowly slipping away and become a distant figure until there would be nothing left between them. She was losing the family she had chosen herself because of her decision to come on tour with Chris.

She'd lost the connection she had with her family. They may not have gotten on when she was at home but she sure missed them. The way they used to tease her about being the baby of the family, and how she had to compete for her parent's attention due to the numerous older siblings and the fact she was always in her older brother or sisters' shadow no matter what she did. She'd lost the family she loved and who cared for her because of her decision to come on tour with Chris.

She was losing sight of who she truly was. The smart, strong, independent young woman who would always help others was changing into someone she didn't recognise. The young woman nicknamed Tutor Girl by her friends was morphing into a soulless sell-out with no time or patience for anyone but herself. She was losing the person she wanted to be to someone she wasn't because of her decision to come on tour with Chris.

And the loss she felt the most was Nathan. The man she loved and adored, who had waited for her and pledged to spend the rest of his life with only her when they were just sixteen. She lost Nathan and this hurt her the most, she had lost the love of her life and her guiding light, she'd watched him turn from a boy to a man, a man that she was infatuated with and could not or would not forget for the rest of her life. She had lost her husband because of her decision to come on tour with Chris.

Looking back at her losses and the remembering the promises Chris had made to her about the tour she realised that losing everything she had was not worth the experience of the tour. Losing her life was not worth the sacrifice for her music. And she realised that she too was once upon a time a young girl who lost everything, all because of a decision she made.
