Two Little Rain Drops

Disclaimer:

I don't own Twilight's characters or the old fable I plundered to make this point, but I did mix them together.

A/N: This is for the anonymous "Rosa" who is apparently so jaded as to be diabolically against friends having fun together with purportedly "ridiculous contests … to see who has the most desperate followers". Thanks for the giggles at your expense and for destroying our good clean fun encouraging those who don't review to click a less threatening button.

Psst, btw, we're smart enough to have already figured out the voting skew on our own without your little mean spirited demonstration. Thanks.

Here's to idealism and genuine loving support. Cheers!

Do What You Can

Once there was a farmer named Carlisle who had a large field of corn. He weeded it carefully, for he wanted to sell the corn and buy food and necessities for his family and enjoy sharing the surplus with his neighbors.

He worked hard for many weeks, but the corn withered and drooped because no rain fell. Every morning a very worried Carlisle went out and looked at the thirsty stalks and wished for rain.

One day, as Farmer Carlisle stood looking up at the sky, two little raindrops saw him.

"Dear Carlisle has worked so very hard for his field of corn,' said Dripward, "and now it is drying up. I wish we could help him."

"Yes," said Dropella, "but you are only a little raindrop. What can you do?"

"To be sure," Dripward, "I cannot do much. But I am going to do what I can. Here I go!"

With that he leaped off the cloud, plunging joyfully toward the parched soil below

Dripward had no sooner started for the field than Dropella said. "Well, if you insist upon going, I will go, too. Here I come!" And down she went.

One raindrop fell –PAT—on the farmer's nose. The second raindrop fell –PAT—on a stalk of corn.

"Oh-ho!" said the farmer. "A raindrop! I do believe we shall have a shower!"

By this time many raindrops had come together to see what was happening. When they saw the two little raindrops falling down to water the farmer's corn, the most fun loving raindrop Splashmett said, "If you two are going on such a good errand, I'll go too!" And with a booming laugh, down He went.

"And I!" said Droplice and Splashsper in unison. Not to be left out, Dripalie rolled her eyes and jumped too.

And so said they all, until a whole shower came and the corn was watered just enough to survive. Then the corn grew and ripened and provided nourishment and enjoyment to all of Carlisle's family and friends…all because one little raindrop tried to do what it could.

E/N: I kinda like that the farmer didn't make a point about the futility of the measly little drops in the piddly little cloud by turning on a super fan and blowing away all the soil so they would understand that only the big clouds do any good or get to have any feel good fun. How about you all?

(If this perplexes the heck out of you, it's okay. Small target audience and I hope the rest of you just get a wtf giggle out of it!) :D
