Lovers

---

A girl and a guy can be just friends. But at one point they will fall for each other, maybe temporarily, maybe at the wrong time, maybe too late or maybe forever.

"We've got to stop doing this." Sakura said first thing as she entered the hotel room.

"Baby, what's wrong?" Syaoran said pulling her towards him.

"I just hate myself for doing this to Mei Ling. Syaoran you're getting married in a week. We've got to stop doing this or eventually someone's going to get hurt." Sakura managed out as she broke down.

"Shh we'll stop okay. But god Sakura you have no idea how much I love you , if it wasn't for this arranged marriage, I'd marry you. I'd marry you right here, right now." Syaoran said to Sakura, pulling her closer and inhaling her scent.

Sakura always smell like vanilla, just like the first day they met. They had met at a bar during Syaoran's bachelor party. Sakura had gone to the bar with her friend who had just gotten her heartbroken, but was now up against the wall making out with a stranger. Sakura sighed to herself and made her way to the counter where she sat down and ordered a martini.

Suddenly a male voice speaks "Funny how a pretty girl like you is sitting alone at a bar." Sakura turned and met a handsome guy with messy brown hair, amber eyes and a striking smile.

"I'm Syaoran." Syaoran said reaching out his hand.

"Nice to meet you Syaoran, I'm Sakura." She took his hand and shook it.

From then they hit it off, talking about everything and anything, almost like they've been friends for ages. Syaoran talked about his arranged marriage and how he didn't want it at all. The talking soon lead to many more drinks. Looking at each others eyes, their lips met. The kiss was slow and sweet, their hands fumbled wherever they could go. The pace quickened as their tongues battled for dominance. The night continued in a hotel room as the desire built up.

They woke up in bed the next morning knowing exactly was happened the night before. The both knew it was wrong, but neither wanted to stop. Neither knew but they would soon fall in love with one another. They continued to meet each other at places where no one would recognize them and would spend the night drowning in each others body.

That was all 3 months ago, and now reality had caught up with them. Syaoran would be married in a week and they could not just continue this.

Stopping from her sobs, Sakura lifted her head up and asked "Syaoran, who am I to you?"

"You're…"Syaoran said pausing for a moment, and then continuing "my lover."

"You're lover?" Sakura asked quietly.

"Yes, you're my lover." Syaoran said confirming it while kissing her on her forehead.

"I like the sound of that." Sakura replied.

They spent the night together one last time. It was slow and unhurried because they knew they had to treasure the limited time they had together.

On Syaoran and Mei Ling's wedding, Sakura was still at home as she looked at the invitation. She had been invited as one of Syaoran's "business partners". Sakura looked at the invitation again and threw it aside. She could not bear seeing the man she loved marry someone else.

A doorbell ring was heard, and she shuffled her way to the door. As she opened them, amber eyes appeared before her.

"Syaoran, what are you doing here?!" Sakura asked hysterically.

"I just wanted to give you something, so you won't forget me." Syaoran said as he looked through his pocket.

He took out a little keychain and handed it towards Sakura. Sakura took the keychain from his hands and analyzed it carefully. It was a little angel smiling and at the back was the words "Love always, Syaoran."

Tears streamed down Sakura's face "Oh Syaoran I love it, thank you." They kissed one last time and Syaoran left to his unwanted life with another.

On occasion, they bumped into each other with their spouses. And although both liked their spouses very much, they knew they could never love them like they did with each other.
