Disclaimer: Don't own Monk you know that because Trudy's still dead. She wouldn't be if I owned Monk
The minute Adrian laid eyes on Trudy he knew it was really her. He also knew that she was telling the truth when she said she faked her death to protect him. She would never have run away. She loved him and he loved her.
"TRUDY," he called and she looked up.
He ran to her. She encircled him protectively in her arms and he returned the embrace.
"Adrian," she whispered, "being without you was hell"
"For me too," he told her tightening his grip on her, "but now I have you back again"
"You know about what's going on," she asked
He nodded tears spilling from his eyes.
"You don't have to say it," she said softly, "I know"
"It happens," he said, "that's not important right now. It can all be sorted out later. GOD you have no idea how much I missed you"
"Am I-"
"SHUSH, SHUSH, SHUSH," he told her comfortingly, "its okay angel."
He rubbed her back in circular motions.
"Adrian I would never have done that on purpose," she said
"I know… I know you wouldn't have
"That was how I knew it was you. Why was that key so important," he asked her.
"It was a key to a box of articles Janice and I worked on together. It was the last thing I had left of her"
Just then the captain came out
"Everything's okay," he said, "I just talked with the DA and due to the extreme circumstances they're going to drop the charges against her"
"Thank GOD," Monk cried in relief, "oh thank GOD!"
Trudy was so relieved and at the same time felt so bad she was shaking.
"It was an accident," she told them
"I know," the captain acknowledged, "that's why the DA is dropping the charges"
Monk rubbed her shoulders.
"It's okay sweet one," he told her, "it's okay"
"Monk you know you have to come down to that station and fill out the forms," the captain said, "and then it's all done"
Monk nodded not taking his eyes off Trudy.
"Monk," Randy asked, "do you hear us?"
"Uh-huh," Monk mumbled tightening his grip on his wife. Nothing else mattered to him at the moment. His arms were no longer empty. His heart and his arms were full of Trudy.
