A/N sorry this is so short. Anyway, enjoy!
Alex's POV
I stand at the Gravity Falls bus station, waiting for my cousin Emily to come. It's been two years since I've seen her, so my parents thought it would be a good idea for her to visit for the summer. The only thing is, the two of have never really gotten along.
The first time we met-which was when she was one and I was three-she tried to put glue in my hair. Then I poured confetti all over her. Ever since then, we haven't exactly been besties.
Since I'm so lost in my thoughts, I don't notice the bus pull up. Not at first. Not until I hear the bus doors open and I hear the screaming of my younger cousin. She rushes over to me and embraces me in a hug.
"Oh my gosh Alex! It's been so long! Are you taller than I remember? Is that dog you had still alive? We're gonna have so much fun!"
This surprises me. I was always the hyper cousin full of energy, and the last time I saw her, she was shy and quiet.
"Too long, yes, yes, and OF COURSE WE ARE!" I answer with excitement. I can't wait to show her all creatures my dad's shown me! We hop in the car while my dad loads in her suitcase.
On the way home, we talk nonstop about everything; what we're going to do this summer, our family, our friends, our pets, boys, and what we plan do on our first night together.
The second the car comes to a stop we're out the door and into the Shack. My bedroom is downstairs, but for the summer the two of us are sleeping the attic in the room my dad and his twin sister-my aunt Mabel and Emily's mom-stayed in when they were twelve, just like me.
He always tells me all the stories about their adventures in this town, and I always listen. I know they're true because he's shown me all of the creatures he has encountered and the journal he found one day in the woods when him and Mabel had just gotten here.
But I have no idea if Aunt Mabel's told Emily about them yet, so I am just going to show her them, because even if she does know about them, she hasn't seen any.
We get to the attic room and she starts to unpack. I sit on my bed, and then, when she's taking WAY too long, I help her. We're done in record time, so I decide this is my chance to show her.
I take my dad's journal-which he sometimes lets me borrow-and show Emily the woods. As we are walking, though, a strong gust of wind picks up and a bright light comes from the right.
As if on que, we both turn our heads, only to see the light. it's too bright to see anything else.
It gets brighter and brighter with every second. So bright that I have to use the maroon 3 journal as a shield.
Suddenly everything around us is white. Emily mutters something, then crashes to the ground, unconscious.
"Emily!" I scream, falling to my knees beside her. I shake her, but I get no reply. "Emily!" I scream louder. As I continue to scream louder and more persistent, a figure walks up to us and I black out.
