Here is a one off tale that takes place around the scene of the pilot episode. These are the deleted scenes that end on the studio editing floor. The writers thought at a love triangle with the love-luckless Chuck would get to complicated and stop the flow of the show.
But many people have forgotten, or maybe never knew, that Sarah was only one of Chuck's original love interests. There was someone else, someone close by, that Chuck would be secretly pining for from day one. Her name was Kayla Hart.
Two days before Chuck's birthday party
"Do you think they are real?"
"Huh?"
"Do you think they are real?"
Chuck pauses from searching the net to look over at his best friend sitting idly by the "Morgan Door" Chuck's bedroom window. Morgan was looking out into the courtyard. He was looking at something.
"What's real?"
"Kayla's boobs! Do you think they are real?"
"Morgan, have some class about you."
Chuck gets up and walks over to the window where Morgan is sitting. Together they watch as Kayla suddenly runs out to the courtyard yelling something.
"Do you think they are real?"
"Morgan!" Chuck stated more disconcertively.
"Do you think they are real?"
"I don't know, she's an actress, so she could have had work done."
The boys where still at Chuck's window when Kayla returns to the courtyard. She notices that the boys are still there so instead of returning to her place she heads over to where the friends are. She slows her movement and starts to put some sway into her walk. It seems to have the desired effect on the guys as they both noticed her and they both began to blush.
"Chuck can you do me a favour?"
"A favour, what sort of favour."
"I need to get downtown but I've missed my bus." She tilted her head a looked flirtatiously at him.
Chuck asks "What's happened to your car?"
"It's been impounded", she said "Who would know that driving under the influence of pot was illegal!".
"That's too bad!" Chuck said shaking his head in disbelief.
Morgan saw the opportunity " So do you need a ride somewhere?"
"Yes, if you're offering."
"Ar , ar sure." Chuck managed to stutter out. "I'll just grab the keys."
Chuck grasps his chance to talk to her, by offering her a lift to where she needing to go. Chuck takes the opportunity to get in Kayla's good books, as he walked out the door of his apartment Morgan yells to him to remind Kayla of Sunday night.
During the car journey Chuck does his best to keep a conversation with her, Kayla had an interest in travelling, she spent her gap year backpacking around Europe. Chuck said he hadn't travelled much, he's never been out of California. After a while they talk about the people in Chuck's life, Morgan, Ellie, and Devon
"So, yeah, I'm content to live with my sister and Capt. Awesome".
"Captain Awesome?"
"He is awesome."
" No. Really? Awesome?"
"It's true, though." As Chuck continued, "Yeah, well you have seen him, absolutely handsome , intelligent and so good at sports."
"So, wait, wait. You call him Capt. Awesome?"
"Everything he does is awesome - climbing mountains, jumping out of planes. Flossing."
That got Chuck laughing at his own joke, Kayla thought that he had a nice laugh.
"This is my spot coming up so you can just pull over by the kerb."
Chuck follows her instructions, and pulls the car over to stop .Kayla unbuckles her seatbelt and smiled at him as she opened the car door.
"Thanks for the lift, Chuck." She said as she got out of the car. "We should do this again" she smiled at him.
Chuck watched her walk away and into the arms of an unknown man who greeted her with an all embracing kiss. Chuck realized that he'd driven her to where she's meeting her date.
Kayla at Chuck's party
Chuck was removing the band-aids on his thumb when Ellie walked up and handed him a beer while holding one herself.
"Thanks for my party" he said.."Your seven-layer dip? (clinks bottles with his sister) Tasted like eight".
Ellie: (takes a seat beside her brother) "Chuck, can I tell you something?"
"It really was eight layers?"
"Even though we may ask, no woman really wants to hear about an old girlfriend. It's depressing, okay? Stanford was five years ago. You need to move on. It's time—"
"Do we really need to have this conversation again?"
"We've rehearsed it enough." She chuckled.
Chuck: Right. Well, I'll get over Jill tomorrow. (gets up and walks away while Ellie looks at him sympathetically)
Morgan approaches and sits on Ellie's other side. She is visibly displeased so she sighs and takes a swig.
"Hey there. Seems like every bodies are having a really good time, huh?" Morgan stops mid sentence.
Chuck deciding to save Ellie from her stalker, returned with some finger food. He had a large mouth full when his jaw dropped and he nearly choked on his food. Ellie noticed that something his caught his attention. She turned her head to see what spectacle has Morgan dumbstruck. Kayla had just turned up late to the party because she had to work; she had slipped out of her apartment wearing black leggings and a black singlet that gave her a great cleavage. Morgan was not slow to notice, Chuck jaw had almost hit the ground. Kayla seemed to glide across the courtyard to where the Bartowski's sat. Morgan noticing her hands were empty spoke first.
"Can I get you some punch" he waited for a positive rely before he slipped away to the drinks table.
"Yes please. Happy birthday Chuck! It looks like a great party?" Kayla offered.
"Thanks. The party was Ellie's idea."
"So how do you know so many people?"
"Well most of them are work colleagues of Ellie and Captain Awesome, but then we've had enough parties for me to know them more casually."
"Know as in the biblical sense?"
"Ha, ha, good joke."
Morgan and Chuck try to talk to her but one of Devon's buddies, the "Dashing Doctor Dan" soon cuts them both out of the picture. Realizing at they can't compete against a doctor the boys retire back to Chuck's bedroom.
Two days later in the Buymore, Morgan is looking out for his buddy. After watching a blond named Sarah walk away from the Nerdherd desk, Morgan decided to give Kayla a call.
"Kayla Hart"
"Hey its Morgan Grimes, I need a favour from you.
"Morgan?. How did you get my number?"
"Um. Let's just say I'm resourceful.
"Morgan!" she said sternly.
"OK, I found and overdue notice for your phone plan blowing around the courtyard."
"Have you been rummaging through my rubbish?"
"No. No No. I swear it was blowing around the courtyard. I'm not the type of guy that rumbles though other people's trashcans. Urgh it's creepy."
"I don't believe you. What do you want?"
"I need two tickets into the "spaceland.""
"Why do you want two tickets to my club? Have you managed to find someone desperate enough to go out with you?"
"Ha Ha, Chuck has. And she's a real looker.
"Chuck's dating a hooker?"
"No. Of course not. This girl is beautiful."
"So she's not a paid escort?"
"No, heaven forbid, I'm just making sure he takes her somewhere nice."
"Why do you care?"
"I always look out for my buddy. That's why I'm talking to you, to give my bud a fair chance with this one, that's why two tickets to your club should impress her of what great guy he is."
"Alright Morgan, I'll reserve him some at the door tonight. Just two, Chuck and his date, not three, not you."
"Thank you, thank you, I owe you one."
Morgan ended his call and then went to see Chuck. He was feeling really pleased with himself that he got his friend tickets into the best club in town.
"I know you have a crush on Kayla but tonight you're going out with Sarah, well I've set it up for you!"
"Morgan, what have you done?"
"You're taking Sarah to the best club in town. Spaceland!" Morgan added excitedly.
"Spaceland? Thats, thats Kayla's club!"
Yes, yes that's why it's perfect. Nothing turns a girl on like jealousy!"
"Oooh, I don't know Morgan, I just don't know."
"Come on, Kayla flirts with you but keeps you at arm's length. If she sees that you can pull in a bird like Sarah then she'll have to either go all out or stop pissing in your pocket. If she really wants you, she'll have to fight for you."
Morgan looked at his friend fair in the eye for he knew he was right, as much as he didn't want to admit it, Chuck knew he mate was on the money.
Kayla's views on Chuck's date in the club
It was still early in the night for the crowd to be in the club. Kayla saw Chuck and his date queuing to get in so she told the bouncer to pull Chuck out of the line as there were tickets for him. The bounce went and spoke to Chuck and then beckoned him and his lovely date to move forward to the ticket booth where Kayla was working.
"Hi, Kayla I understand there are two tickets for me to pick up?"
"Hi Chuck ," Kayla said in return, giving him a wry smile and then reaching under the counter for the tickets. Kayla noticed the attractive blond lady Chuck was with, she could tell from the body language that Chuck was a little uncomfortable to be in Sarah's presence. Sarah for her part seemed at eased with her date for the evening, making sure not to notice at the leering some of the clubbers were giving her. In fact Sarah had noticed something between Kayla and Chuck that she filed away for future reference.
"Here's you complementary drinks card and have a good time." She smiled at Chuck as she handed him the cards. She saw the couple enter inside then she watched them enter the inner sanctum. As she watched she could hear the band start playing their first set for the evening.
Five minutes after Chuck had entered the club and group of humorless looking men in suits walked up the club door. Flashes their badges to the bouncer then they moved onto the ticket booth. Pausing for a moment for the last of their posse to arrive they brushed pass the clubbers to enter the main establishment. Kayla had noticed these men one on of them flashed his badge and ID at her. It had brought her back to reality as her mind had been preoccupied with things about her neighbor and his date. If Chuck could land a dish like that then maybe he was worth a second look.
A few minutes later pandemonium was inside the club. It appeared that some mug had gone berserk and started slashing people with a knife. Out of the chaos two of the suits, one with a limp, rushed out of the club and disappeared from sight. The wail of ambulances could be heard as the band had stopped playing and then the street was full of flashing lights. Police moved in and secured the scene as the injured were removed on gurneys. With everything that was going on Kayla forget that her neighbor was once inside. Kayla stayed in her booth and waited for the all clear. It was going to be long night.

Kayla was outside taking out the trash when she sees Chuck coming through the apartment's gates and walking to his apartment. She strikes up a conversation with him by asking how his date went.
"So, Chuck, Up early or are you just getting in?"
"Aar, just getting home."
"An all nighter with your date wow. Must have went alright?"
Chuck replied," It started well but it ended up a bit sour."
"Did you have to defend her honor?"
"Ha, more like she defended mine."
She had a closer look at him, checking to see if he had any bruises, she also noticed that he has sand on him and concludes that he ended up at his beach alone.
"So, are you going to see her again?"
"Surprisingly,... yeah."
Chuck moves on dejected and shuffles off to his apartment.
Kayla calls out, "Chuck, have a nice day!"
Kayla gets a part
It was the news she'd been waiting for since she moved out to California, Kayla had received the news that she got a part in a midday soap opera. She got very excited and had to tell someone. She rushes over to the Bartowski apartment. Chuck had his window wide open and she could hear Ellie giving the boys a stern lecture on personal hygiene. Chuck could see Kayla approach the open window and then gestured to Ellie to pause her tirade. They all turned to look at the girl on the other side of the window. Ellie could tell that the girl was beaming; she was practically jumping up and down on the spot. Ellie , Chuck and Morgan all wander over to the window sill so Kayla can share her joy.
"I got a part! I've got a role!
"And what show is this?" Morgan asked.
"I'm going to be the receptionist in the series, "Passion Cove"". She squealed with delight.
The mentioning of the name caused Chuck to flash. The show's production company is a NSA front as the NSA needs a cover operation in LA. The NSA had created a film company to move unsuspecting persons out of their way. The role will mean that Kayla will have to move out of town as the show is filmed elsewhere. They want her to start immediately so she has little time to pack. The production company will pack her up and relocate all her stuff to a new abode.
"Well that's great news. I sure we are all very happy for you." Ellie said.
Morgan and Chuck were quick in agreement.
"Oh, I have to go and pack!" Kayla was very excited and then she rushed back to her apartment.
After Kayla was out of earshot Morgan rubbed his beard.
"Passion Cove, hey is that show still on the air?" Morgan quizzed.
NSA packs her away.
Chuck was startled when he heard a noise coming from his bedroom window, after his encounter with Sarah and Casey he is in a mild state of panic. He relaxes a little when notices that it is Morgan entering via his usual route.
"Chuck, have you notice what's going on in the courtyard?"
"Huh?" Chuck replied as he moved across the room to met Morgan by his window.
"There are removalists and a big truck outside. Someone is moving out!"
Chuck and Morgan both look out and notice that the movers are pack up Kayla's stuff and taking it away. Both the boys were disappointed however it was Morgan who verbalised it.
"How come it's always the cute ones that move? Why can't it be that old hag , Mrs Jones, she's got to be 150. Why can't she just die? Then we could get some of Ellie's single doctor friends to move in and we'd be set."
Chuck agreed with his sentiments.
"Ha, Morgan, you know God hates us" as he looked down on his buddy.
Kayla walked out of her apartment and saw that Morgan was beckoning her to come over. She moved around the fountain and approached the boys.
"What's going on? Why are you leaving?" Morgan stated in a disappointed voice.
"The Producers have offered me an apartment near the set because I can't drive at the moment. I'm finally going to be a real star." She said with glowing enthusiasm
"We'll miss you." Morgan spoke for both of them.
"Well you will be able to watch me every day at midday on channel 7."
Kayla reaching in and gave Chuck a hug through the window. Morgan raised his arms in anticipation but she ignores him.
"Don't I get a hug?"
"Morgan this courtyard is very good at carrying voices. I heard you when you asked if my breasts were fake. So I am not going to press them against you. Be grateful you don't get a slap in the mouth."
Morgan's mouth dropped as she walked away. Chuck gave him a slap in the back.
"Come on buddy; let's play that new game you've brought over"
The friends left the window and then moved into the lounge room where the gaming systems were set up. They failed to notice a second NSA crew turn up and start placing other stuff into the vacated apartment. The NSA has moved Casey in, Chuck would later realised that the NSA pulled a few strings to get Major Casey an apartment close to him.
