Birthday Girl
"Hi there birthday girl. I was going to make reservations for us tonight so we can go out for a nice birthday dinner but I figured I'd ask you where you wanted to go first." Nick told Jackie as she walked through the door.
"Oh honey, that's sweet but would you mind if we ordered in, I don't mean to be a buzz kill but today was an awful and exhausting day and I just want to get in my pajamas, I'm sorry."
"What happened?" Nick asked.
"Well one of my students was sobbing when he came in this morning, when I asked him what's wrong he told me that he didn't want to come to school today because his grandparents were visiting and that he only got to see them once every seventy-five years, I'm pretty sure that was an exaggeration but still he was upset, well when I finally got him to calm down we had a fire drill, my kids got so freaked out about six of them started bawling, I finally told them that we were just practicing and that everything was ok, which you're not suppose to do, the kids aren't suppose to know it's a drill because we want them to take it seriously but honestly I had no other choice, they were hysterical, then one little boy just would not listen to me all day, he drove me bonkers, I made him walk ten minutes at recess, well he was so mad at me for making him walk at recess that when the kids sang me happy birthday he refused to sing to me, he just glared at me, let's just say it was a long day."
"I'm sorry, but did the kids like the cookies you bought them at least?" (Jackie had bought the kids cookies just to be nice since it was her birthday, she thought it would be fun for them to get to sing her happy birthday and then get treats)
"Yeah they did." Jackie answered.
"That's good."
"Yeah it is." She answered.
She then grimaced slightly.
"You ok?" "Yes but the baby has super active today and he keeps kicking me in just this one spot, he's been doing it so much that it is actually getting a little sore. It's just not my day." She said with a slight smile.
"Ryan be nice to your mother." Nick said with a grin as he laid his hand on her extremely swollen tummy.
Jackie laughed.
"Listen you go get into your Pajamas and I'll order us something in, what would you like?"
"Chinese food, I don't care where you get it from." She responded.
She took a couple of steps towards the stairs so she could go upstairs and change her clothes.
"Are you sure you don't mind a night in instead of a night out?" She asked, not wanting to hurt his feelings.
"It's your birthday, we can do whatever you want." He assured her.
"Thank you, I love you." She told him.
"I love you too."
Soon the couple was eating dinner, after they had finished they watched television and then Jackie was in bed and asleep by 8 that night. It was not exactly the most exciting of birthdays but to her it was the perfect way to end the day.
The End!
