Lullaby

Since her marriage to her husband nearly four years ago, Sakura could count the number of times she'd ever heard him hum on one hand. In all the years that she'd known said man; she'd never once heard him sing.
She wasn't sure if it was stage fright that kept him from his musical inclinations, or merely that he didn't enjoy doing it. That was Kakashi Hatake though, always a mystery waiting to be solved.
Though, there was nothing mysterious about him while he was in his comfort zones, and it seemed he'd found one other than the Icha Icha series.
While she was working shifts at the hospital late at night (she refused to take leave for even a few days), it left Kakashi home with their newborn, Akane.
So, she couldn't help the smile that played her lips as she watched him across the room sitting in front of the window, rocking in the chair they'd received as a gift from Naruto when their daughter was born.
He was holding Akane to his bare chest, alternating between humming and singing a soft, low tune she didn't recognize as he tried to calm the colicky babe. The baby whimpered lightly, but Kakashi's melodic cure seemed to be doing the job well enough, keeping her cries and screams at bay.
Holding you, holding you,
She closed her eyes as she listened to his light, raspy hum, between the words of the song as he cradled their daughter a little closer to his chest. He rested his cheek against her pale, downy hair; slowly rubbing soothing circles on her back.
It's in you, river flows in you
She had her father wrapped around her tiny little finger.
Sakura sighed contently as he got to his feet, still humming the sweet lullaby to their daughter.
I want to throw my heart to you,
He shuffled to the crib, trying not to wake the sleeping babe as he lay her down. He stood there for a few moments, looking down on his sleeping infant, still humming her song.
So that I can feel you always,
He reached down and stroked her head and then turned to the door where Sakura had stood with a sleepy smile. She moved into their bedroom, leaving the doorway before Kakashi had seen her.
She moved closer to him as he crawled into bed next to her, his arms wrapping around her waist. She smiled, and sighed contently as sleep took her.

Lyrics borrowed from Yiruma's "River Flows In You". – It's amazing, I suggest you look it up (with words).
