Title: Playing hard to get
Animes/Mangas: Inuyasha and Yu Yu Hakusho
Summary: Anything worth having requires a little effort, but Kagome Higurashi seems to require a lot of effort. She is an enigma. She has sidestepped every attempt Shuichi has made to gain her affection, but he has vowed to do anything and everything within his power to claim her.
"I hate it when you do that." She hissed angrily, her sapphire orbs narrowing as he brushed a strand of ebony hair away from her eyes.
"Do what?" He asked as though it were a normal occurrence between them.
"When you look at me like I'm the only girl in the world."
He grinned playfully, an innocent looked plastered to his face. However, she wasn't fooled. She knew better than to fall for his act.
She also knew any other girl in the world would have been putty in his hands if he'd given them such a look, but he was no ordinary guy. Shuichi Minamino was definitely no ordinary guy.
He was…
Well Kagome hadn't quite figured it out yet, but she would.
"Kagome, Kagome, Kagome," His smooth baritone voice sing-songed as he straightened. "It is quite futile for you to avoid me."
She silently fumed.
He was always spouting off such nonsense whenever he was around her. He would tell her she was his and how great they would be together.
She questioned the sanity of the members of his fan club.
She was certain they were all deranged because the boy in front of her was nothing but creepy.
It was true, he possessed intelligence and looks, but his personality was lacking.
At least in Kagome's point of view.
"Oh," She challenged. "Well, that won't stop me from trying."
He growled.
She was always challenging his claim on her. Albeit, she was quite unaware, but nonetheless it was still irritating.
"Why couldn't you have stayed at Meiou." She complained, yanking her backpack out of her locker before stomping away.
"It's quite simple Kagome," He replied casually as they strolled down the walkway toward the gate. "You were here, and I need to be where you are."
"Minamino-san," She stressed to remind him of their relationship. "I hate to disappoint you, but chasing after me is futile."
She seemed smug.
"Oh, is that so?" He was thoroughly amused. He wondered what explanation she would give him this time.
"Yes," She nodded with a wide smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "You see my boyfriend would be terribly upset to learn that you're pursuing me."
He faltered.
His charming mask disappeared for the briefest of seconds as he processed her words.
"Boyfriend," His voice was suddenly dark and deep. He had been unaware that she was already taken. She'd never mentioned him before. In fact, he'd never heard her speak of this boyfriend to her girlfriends.
"Yes, he's waiting for me right over there." She motioned to the new Mercedes import that stood out like a sore thumb in front of the school.
Before Shuichi could say another word, the boyfriend stepped away from the car and toward Kagome.
"Is this boy bothering you?" Shuichi could only assume the tall well-built guy coming toward them was her boyfriend.
"No," She flashed her boyfriend a smile. "He was just on his way home."
"Un," He grabbed her hand in his and opened the door for her, brushing off Shuichi as he ushered Kagome into the car.
Kagome turned to Shuichi in smug satisfaction and waved before the pair sped off.
If he was angry before, now he was outright livid.
However, he placated himself because he knew it would only be a matter of time.
His eyes glinted in the sunlight and he smirked.
Kagome was proving to be very interesting.
If she wanted to play games, he would gladly participate.
He always did enjoy a good chase.
