"That's fucking creepy. Most people keep mementos of a first boyfriend or girlfriend. A lock of hair, a picture. But not the body, Regina. You preserved his body. What the hell?"
"My mother had ripped his heart out, Emma."
"That's even creepier. Your mother needs to learn to keep her hands to herself."
Emma's hand was covered by Regina's. She looked down to see she'd laid her hand on her own chest in memory of Cora's attempt to take her own heart.
"What happened?" Regina asked.
"She was going after Snow's heart. I kinda got in the way and she tried to grab mine."
"She took your heart?" Regina's alarm was easy to read.
"Tried. Gold said the magic inside me prevented it."
Emma felt tentative movement against her chest and realized Regina had not withdrawn her hand. She lifted her own again and stroked the back of Regina's, marveling in the sinew and softness. Their gazes met, brown sparkled with emotion.
Emma leaned forward. The hand over her heart closed, grasping the cloth of her shirt tightly. "She couldn't have it. I guess it already belongs to you."
Regina's eyes widening was the last Emma saw before she closed hers and pressed a kiss to soft lips. She took advantage of the gasp and slipped the tip of her tongue within to taste the sweetness of Regina Mills. The brunette's groan encouraged Emma to press her even closer, hands upon her back and sliding up into the silk locks of raven-black hair.
Emma hadn't believed in many things in her life. Regina Mills had lost her belief in the fairytales of her youth.
Together, however, they had found their belief again. In each other.
I know that look. I know her. I believe her.
I love her.
