A/N: Chuck vs Daniel Shaw is the final bout between the hero and his greatest nemisis, if a show- down that rivals some of the greats. For Chuck, life is moving on, his wife is again whole and they are starting a family and getting in touch with some old friends from Miami. But as Michael Weston and crew come up for a visit, one of their old enemies has rose from the grave again to spell trouble for his protégé and his new friends by breaking out a known terrorist. A terrorist; that Chuck has long since forgotten.
I don't own Chuck or Burn Notice, but after reading a well written story by timewalker05, I thought it was time for the final curtain of a great series to fall. I thank timewalker05 for their permission to continue their great crossover work storyline, and thinkling for their help in proofreading. I could not do this without you… Thanks. I hope all who read this will enjoy the work and opinions are always welcome.
Chapter 1 -Round 1
Paris France, 3 years/ 6 months ago...
Chuck and Shaw are struggling with a knife that is slowing being pushed towards Sarah Walker. Chuck looses his concentration looking at the woman he loves, and gets a left cross to the face for his mistake and falls to ground next to Sarah. He catches his breath as Shaw picks up Sarah and pulls her to him and points a gun at Chuck.
"No, Shaw, don't do this."
Shaw looks at Chuck, gun in hand and Sarah barely aware of the fight and the situation around her.
"You can't flash can you? Those emotions get you into trouble. Now just stay here, I don't want to hurt you. None of this is your fault. I haven't told them your secret, but if you follow me… I will kill you."
Shaw with Sarah in tow drifts away from the scene, only to turn down a nearby alley to the streets of Paris.
"SARAH!"
Chuck gasps as Shaw disappears with the love of his life. For a brief moment, he falls into disarray and self-doubt. He had come to save Sarah only to fail and within moments, loose her forever. He shakes it off and vows to himself that this is not over, he can still save her, he has to follow and stop Shaw. He turns to the seat that Sarah had just moments occupied and sees a gun underneath. He doesn't want to shoot Shaw, but will do what he must to save her. He has to save her...
Shaw and Sarah stop on a bridge, overlooking the river, taking in the moment. This is what Shaw felt had to be done, he had to avenge his wife's death, and soon the CIA would also share in the revenge he planned. But first the woman responsible, Sarah Walker, would be the first to feel his vengeance. He looked into the cold surface that would be this woman's grave and then to her.
"The drug will dull the pain, you won't feel a thing."
From behind he hears the voice of the one man that didn't belong here.
"Stop!"
Shaw turned to see Chuck at the bottom of the bridge, weapon drawn at him and waiting. Shaw did admire the determination this man had to save his partner, but he was misguided by foolish emotion and now had sealed his fate as well. Shaw pointed the gun at Chuck and scorned.
"I warned you."
Sarah moved her clouded gaze to the voice and could barely make out her rescuer. The drug had clouded her thoughts and ability to do anything but simply watch the events unfold before her. Chuck seemed to be at the foot of the bridge with a drawn weapon. He was trying to reach Shaw and convince him of his folly.
"Please, it doesn't have to be like this. This isn't you, Shaw, you can't do this."
Chuck had lowered his weapon, he was hoping that Shaw would listen to reason and see that vengeance wouldn't solve this. Yes, Sarah had been responsible for the shot that ended the life of Evelyn Shaw, but it was not her actions that started the ordeal, it was The Ring that instrumented the horrific turn of events. Chuck thought that throughout the time they had worked together that Shaw might have learned that not every problem has to be solved at the muzzle of a gun. Shaw stood there a moment in silence, the images of his wife's last words to him; "Happy birthday. I love you." He then saw her fall as Sarah pulled the trigger and ended her life. He had made up his mind and was now committed to his cause.
"No, Chuck. I can, you can't."
Shaw started to squeeze the trigger and aimed at Chuck. Chuck without a second's thought raised his weapon again and fired. Three shots struck Shaw and sent him reeling over the bridge's edge and his right hand, grasped Sarah's and began to pull her to a cold grave.
"SARAH!"
Chuck had burst up the bridge and grabbed Sarah before she had moved too much over the bridge. He held her tight to keep Shaw from taking her from him. Shaw was fading and slowly the grasp he had failed and he plummeted to the cold river below. Chuck pulled Sarah into his arms and thanked God that he had been fast enough to save his only true love. He looked down to see Shaw's body floating its path down the river. It was over, and he needed to get her to a safe place to tend to her. He scooped her in his arms and headed towards a nearby hotel and saw Casey carrying the Ring Director over his shoulder. They nodded to each other and Chuck continued on, as Casey had another matter he had to tend with and the right incentive to make it happen.
Hours later, Shaw's body washed over to a small dock, miles from where the altercation had taken place, and a pair of black shoes stopped at the edge. The figure reached down and pulled his body from the icy water and checked him. Despite the multiple shots, there was a small glimmer that the man could be saved. The figure lifted Shaw into the back of a black fan van and began to close the door.
"Don't worry Agent Shaw; The Ring has plans for you. You will get your revenge on the CIA and the two that ruined your life."
Burbank California, 3 years ago...
Shaw had a smile on his face, He had Bartowski and Walker with their muscle Casey in the back of the armored car and was transporting them somewhere that would spell the end of all three of these, as he put it: 'Thorns in his side...' They were not good enough to just put in a cell, and bury deep underground, they had to die, and nothing could stop him now. As the armored passed the last underpass before the long straight road towards Nevada, Shaw had the driver stop. This was as good of a place to kill them and he wanted to get back to the conference to deal with Beckman and take the next step in dealing with his former employer. He got out and opened the door to the back.
Shaw saw the distain disdain in all three of their sets of eyes, all three of them. They hated him, and he was in the same boat. Two of them had taken the best of him away, and one was just in the way, he had no time for loose ends and it would be just easier to end all three of them here. He smirked as he opened the door and took off his glasses.
"Everyone good? Comfy?"
He pulled a set of keys out of his pocket and stepped in the back to unlock the cell door holding his victims. As he stepped back out and looked in their faces, he threw the keys to their cuffs inside to them. They looked at them with a small bit of uncertainty.
"Un- cuff yourselves."
Shaw reached in his jacket and drew his weapon. Chuck's eyes stayed on the Governor that was on his wrist. The very watch that could keep the Intersect itself, under control in his head.
"It should look like you tried to escape, when I kill you."
Shaw took aim, ready to end the torment, these three brought on him, when he heard a faint whistle from the other side of the vehicle, then it was too late. The armor car's front exploded, flipping the cabin of the vehicle onto its side and throwing Shaw 20 feet away and leaving him unconscious.
Within moments, Shaw begins to stir and takes in a deep breath; blood is flowing down the right side of his face, as he begins to get to his feet. He can see a black Crown Victoria a few feet away and four people rushing towards it. He sees the man that killed him standing nearby the car and looking at him. Chuck writhes in pain and almost crumbles to the ground as Sarah helps him toward the car. Shaw picks up his gun and aims as the vehicle begins to drive off and fires several shots at the car as it speeds away. Shaw growls under his breath.
"We will meet again and end this… NERD!"
A/N: I know with the first chapter, nothing special has seriously been added to what was shown on TV. But to understand what the future has in store for our heroes, we must first understand the rivalry's beginnings. Granted the first 4 chapters are a flash-back of the bouts of Chuck and Shaw, new stuff is coming and all 4 beginning chapters will be released one after another so I can get onto the new untold chapters. And yes, the Burn Notice characters will be brought into the story as Chapter 5 progresses and be pivotal to the rest of the story, I as you all for your patience and thank you in advance.
