Marauding Moment

The end of was coming. It was nearing, almost in my cold mechanical organic hands. I had to stop it. It was the only way. Fear and death, it was what I was sent to do. To end the ending, to stop it from happening. They were coming closer...

I clutched my phaeston assault riffle, battle readied my husk subordinates. My talons clutched over my pheaston. Beads of water and human blood riddled my scabbed armor plating. I awaited my orders. The sign from Harbinger to raze the battlefield. It was only a few more pregnant moments before I drenched my soldiers in armored plating. I could feel my synthetic muscles shaking as the moment drew nearer. Frowning in the utmost difficult manor, I lowered my gun for a moment to direct my soldiers forward of the beam.

It took only a split second. The small ant like figures in the distance rushing forward in they're mechanical vehicles they called "Mako." Which weren't really working well as they seemed to be bouncing up, down, and all around down the hill side just shy of the citadel beam. It only took a few 30 seconds more of high racing seconds before Harbinger flew down from the darkened sky to raze hell on the field. Knocking the "Shepard" down for a full heart clenching minutes before she arose on her beaten feet to stagger towards the beam that connected to the citadel. She could carry only one pistol, heavily injured but she strutted on. Her cherry red blood dripped down her lips as she sneered at my husk soldiers. I grimaced and seethed at my fallen comrades. The armor plating failing and killing them in only single, twice, and third shot of her fire arm. I took a deep breath, clenching my talons and joints tightly before I ran out.

It seemed hours as I made myself known to the human juggernaut, my assault rifle raised. Poised in striking formation as I pulled the trigger. In reality it was only a short of a minute as her bullet penetrated my plates. My armor failing, my shields disintegrating. Disgruntled as I fell to my knees and sneered at the battered human. I screeched and reached out with my talons before she ended my life with her one pistol shot to the head.

How? How could this happen? I was the last defense. My comrades, my soldiers, gone. I wanted to protect her. I needed to protect her and the others from watching. Now? It was the end. The horrible beginning of the end. . . .
